Good afternoon all,
Have explained to Dyana regarding how I make a shot and the concern about the angle of the shot.
Still struggling and try to find a better way to avoid a fur shot. Have talked to my Vet last Saturday. He said just pull the fur and shot right in. But I'm so hesitate because I may shot to the blood vessel which I don't want.

Dyana,
I do exactly what you are doing but I'm still making a fur shot sometimes.
The problem is when I pull up some fur to make a tent, the two adjacent walls of the triangle are so close. When I pierce at 45 degree to the tent, it has a very high chance I will pierced thru either the left or the right side of her fur. The only way to avoid that is to pierce at close to 90 degree angle but I'm worry I may shot to her blood vessel.
It's really hard sometime. So I rather choose to shot to the scruff but too fregrently shot at the same site may affect the absorption rate.
What should I do?
Risking a fur shot to inject anywhere or just stick to the scruff area??
I shot in the scruff for years and eventually it felt like trying to get a needle through saddle leather and made a crunching noise when I got the needle through sometimes, so I started shooting on the sides. When I pull J.D.'s fur up to make the tent, I am pulling his skin up at least an inch and the width at the bottom of the tent is about an inch or more wide. I just shoot right into the center of the tent.
You can move scruff shots around a little bit. I always felt that the scruff tent was pretty much the same as the side or flank tent. I guess I am shooting at a 90 degree angle :? Anyway, when I do the side, I do right at night and left in the morn (that's how I remember it "right at night"). I think you could do over to the right a little on the scruff in the PM and a little to the left in the morning, and should have about 3 inches? lengthwise to move the shot up and down her scruff.
What length of needle are you using?

we shot all around the scruff and shoulder area. i lifted a big hunk up (probably 2-3" away from the body), then shot near the bottom of the tent, not right against the body, perhaps an inch up. i put the needle in parallel to the body.

have you watched youtube videos on how to shoot? Here's one:

Thanks, Dyana & Julie.
I actually divided the scruff into five sections. Left, right, middle high, middle and middle low.
I also shot at the shoulder area where there is more loose skin.

Julie, I had watched that video before but I think I should revisit those videos again.

Thanks
