I found a new Vet. She is a mobile Vet. I found about 3 in my area, and decided on one. We will meet her today at 2:00, and hope to get a new script for new juice. I'm hoping the new juice will bring Daphne's AMPS numbers down to where her PMPS is, or at least close. Maybe the Vet will have an idea as to why the AMPS won't come down like her other numbers. I know it could just be the "dawn effect", but I would like to just look into that a little more.

I'll post our experience later today nailbite_smile

We just had our visit from the new Mobile Vet :-D She was great! Very down to earth, very knowledgeable about FD, (not like my old Vet) and knew all about FDMB, and even recommends her patients go to the site. She goes to conferences to keep up with the new info. on FD. She advised, if not on, to change to canned food, which my old Vet did not advise (of course I've been on canned since I got on to FDMB). I told her about that, and she said a lot of Vets. are just not informed about FD. The price was unbelievably cheap I think, $131.00 and she came from at least 25miles away, (Burlington, NJ). Did not charge for a fuel surcharge like some of the other mobile vets were going to charge. She looked at the SS on my computer and said no need for a Fructosomine test, (my old Vet didn't want to see my SS, and insisted on the Fruct. Test) and just drew blood from her paw, which upset Daphne a bit :o , but she's over it already. She used a pet meter, but knew the numbers I had on the SS were from the human meter, and even complimented me on it. I did pick up Daphne's blood work from the last test from my old vet. She made a few comments, but saw no need to have more test. She checked Daphne's teeth, and felt around her body…all good, a little tarter, but not enough to put a 17 year old cat through a dental for now. We talked about the "other people" who don't know about FD, and all the things they do wrong, she had lots of funny stories even.

So I would say, it went very well, and I will use her again. She does have an office if we needed a more involved treatment. I got the new juice script and new syringe script. She did say, and I was going to ask, since Daphne already is in low numbers, when I get the new insulin, give her less to see if the old insulin I was using lost some of its strength, just in case the new insulin drops her too low. So she said, give her .01u and test a lot to see whats happens.

Of course all of this stressed me out for the past week, (the old Vet issues…) so I'm going to chill with Daphne on the floor for a while! I'll pick up her new juice tomorrow

Gosh, that sounds great-to find a vet with some FD knowledge and mobile to boot! Nice greenie for Daphne this am!

Barb, what a great report! The vet sounds ideal.
Daphne has dropped a lot, and I hope you're ok. Will be looking for the next numbers.

I guess the last few days took a lot out of me and Daphne too. We both slept for 5 hours today on the floor together. Missed some test, but since the Vet did a test, I figured we could both take a brake. I think, btw, the pet test meter said, 84 or so. I think someone here said its about 30 points higher…forgot to ask her that, but she was impressed by the number. I'm so relieved to finally have a Vet like this, and to come to the house, is really a gift in itself.

Have a great night all and I will post numbers with Daphne's new insulin. Oh, and the Vet said, she sees Daphne being off insulin all together, very soon. She has seen so many go off, and she works to do that with her patients! :-D :-D

I will be off this board for a few days, I'm so sorry, but I really am not getting better with the arms and neck, and the only relief is to not type.

Amy I'll PM you.

do what you need to do, barb! that's no fun to be in pain. such great news on the new vet - she sounds fabulous!

i could see daphne working her way off of insulin too. kudos to you for your great care!

Yay great news - except for the Barb pain report. Please behave yourself until you feel better Barb - NO CONDO HOPPING (in fact you are banned from Vyktor's condo!), we'll miss your visits but your health is way more important. Who's going to look after Daphne the way you do if you can't do it!
