Love the lowish bounces. Hate these Uti syringes that eject the insulin all over my hand when I pick it up. :-x

Re: 3/12 Alska AMPS = 251

Which Uti syringes did you get? I got the triple bevelled ones only once and donated most of the box to the rescue where I volunteer because I was pulling my hair out trying to use them to microdose with the drop method. They sux.

They are my backups - I got them from the ADA website. Bing took my last bag of Relion syringes out of the drawer and flung it under the fridge. I have to get new ones this weekend. I literally pick up the UTI ones and point it at Alska and an inch away from the skin, the insulin comes flying out. I haven't even touched the plunger at that point. So then I have to limp down the stairs to fill another syringe for the impatient boy who thinks he is getting breakfast next.

I am pleased to report that there is no visible blood in Emmy's urine just three doses into the Clavamox. She is still urinating frequently but it is not red and there are no droplets on the floor or her bedding and she is not crying. The doctor called and left a message that her numbers were good and her bg was only high enough to suggest that she was stressed.... then she says, "Wait, those aren't her results - call me." So we have been playing telephone tag for two days because every time she calls me back she calls my home phone number. I am anxious to hear the results of Emmylou's blood work - not someone else's

Great news that the antibiotics are working. Cassanova was my first cat to have that severe uti and I completely freaked at that much blood coming from a kitty so I really feel for you and her.

Fingers, toes, paws and tails all crossed that her blood work comes back purrfect. Or at least its thyroid not FD.

Re: 3/12 Alska AMPS = 251

Just talked to vet about Emmylou. Her numbers are pretty good. No sugar in urine so no FD - phew!!! However, she is in very early kidney disease so I suggested taking her off raw because of the phosphorus and finding a higher carb/calorie food for her. Her thyroid is normal. Her white blood cell count was elevated but not overwhelmingly and they believe her infection is isolated (I guess to the urinary tract). So the vet is shifting her focus to the weight loss problem. If she has not gained weight in four weeks then she will consider doing an x-ray/ultrasound for bladder stones. So good news for sure but now I have to figure out what to feed her.

What about kitten food? Also Friskies has their special diet that's low carb as well as low phosphorus. But kitten food would be higher in calories but not sure on the phosphorus.

Yay... that does sound like pretty good news with the choices you had! So glad sweet Emmylou is feeling better with the antibiotics fighting off the infection. When we ran lots of tests in November on Max to see if there was an underlying problem that caused him to drop out of remission and BG #'s to go up, his test results on kidneys came back a tiny bit high showing very early kidney disease. Vet advised adding a lot more water to his food and that we continue to keep an eye on it. She said lots of cats can stay at the early stage for a long time, especially if you're intervening. I'm hoping with Max's BG better controlled that kidneys are doing better too. Fingers crossed Emmylou will put on a little weight for you!

Re: 3/12 Alska AMPS = 251

Looks like Max and Emmylou are at the same stage. Very early - high but not overly high kidney levels. I always wondered why Emmylou drank water (she is the only one with a water bowl) even with all that I add to her food.

I am looking at the list of foods now. Not sure if she will eat the Friskies but I will try it on her. There are several that have good levels but I have to careful because if there is gravy - that is all she will eat. There are IAMS Adult Pate foods that are 13-15 carbs and under the 250 phosphorus %. I am looking at the kitten food - Wellness kitten food is not much more in calories than the adult food. It seems the higher the calories the higher the phosphorus. At least she will eat the 8% Wellness Core food that I give to Alska and the numbers for that are all good. I usually have to re-wet it several times for her to finish the bowl.

I am just bummed because for the first time in her life, her fur is not matted which only happened when I started feeding raw. It took her sooooo long to transition and now she loves it. I am also asking my raw feeding group to chime in with suggestions.

Ah well.... we will figure it out.

Alska decided to match Max's am number. I remember when Alska's pm bg would match Lucian's +8. I could always tell where he was going to be by looking at Lucian's condo before I left work
