Don't know why Tiki is so high today. He just had a bit of loose stool too. Hmmmm...

As for Sasha. I took the day off from work fully intending to take her to vet. But she is definitely no where near as miserable as she was all weekend. Beginning to think perhaps it was the antibiotic that made her sick. After she threw up Sunday I stopped giving it to her and she has been better since. She's still breathing hard and was slow on our walk this morning. I know there's no stopping the cancer but I just don't want to make any mistakes and have any regrets. The day just started, guess I will have to just wait and see how she is.

I am so sorry about Sasha and that she is sick. I had a cat that a lung tumor, I did not put her through surgery or any thing, just hospice at home and let just be her.
I ask the vet how will I know when its time to let her go? She said when she stops eating and drinking. I had her for six months after she was diagnosed with her tumor.
I am sending vines and prayers for you and Sasha.

Ok it's done. I took her for a walk which she jumped at. We went for a walk and she was took very slowly and when we came back to the stairs she didn't want to go up so I put her in the car and took her to the vets. Had a long discussion with the vet about my doubts as she had a good day yesterday and after a long, heartfelt talk about options and more symptoms that had developed since out last visit last Thursday decided I didn't want her to get any worse and had her PTS. It was very peaceful and she went snuggled up with me on the floor, which ironically is the first time I've ever been able to do that with her. She was never one to cuddle, totally independent and if I got down on the floor with her she would be instantly suspicious that I was going to DO something to her (brush her, cut her nails etc). So that was good for my heart. Oddly I feel more at peace with this than I expected to. Maybe I'm just in shock. There's a black cloud over my soul and a hole in my heart that will never mend.

Oh, in typical cat fashion, the last thing Tiki did before we left was to cuff her. :sad:

It's a hard thing to do, even when it is done with love.

BIG HUGE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG HUG.....that last gift of cuddling leaves one less pain. The only time I got to hold my little GA PeanutKitty was her last day when she was so sick she couldn't run. After she realized it wasn't bad, that last cuddle and headkiss she shared helped my heart. I'm SO hoping it continues to help yours...

I am so saddened to hear that your precious Sasha has crossed the bridge. I know it was a gut-wrenching decision to make, but it was the right one, the loving one. You gave her a wonderful life, and a wonderful end. We should all be so lucky to cross cuddled in the arms of the one that loves us the most. So sorry to hear that it was Sasha's time to leave you, but it sounds like she knew it was her time too. Making these decisions is always hardest on us.

Right now you're feeling the hole in your heart will never heal, but in time, it will. Sasha wouldn't want you to grieve forever for her.

When you feel like it, here's a fable I've always loved that I hope you'll read. It'll probably make you cry, but in those tears you'll find healing and peace. The official name is "The Loving Ones", but I've always called it You have chosen tears.

Ooooooh Chris, that just about killed me. SOOOOOOOO SWEET!!!! Thanks so much for sharing that. I've been up and down all day. Spent most of the afternoon on the phone with my 92yr old grandmother crying and talking and remembering. Mostly crying.

Whoever wrote that says it better than anyone else I know. We really do choose the tears. Every time we open our hearts and our homes, we choose tears, but the love they give us while we have them is worth the pain when we have to let them go.

I'm glad Chris shared the fable of why we choose tears with you. I don't know if you knew/remember WCF/Meowzi. She's who shared that fable with me. Every time I read it, it touches me. It will help you to remember that gone is not forgotten -- no matter how dark the cloud or how big the hole in our heart feels. Sasha will always be with you. I hope that Tiki helps you to feel better, as well.

I've been telling Tiki for the last few days that I am going to NEED him soon and last night he woke me up by outstretching his paw and placing it on my hand in the dark. When I opened my eyes he was sleeping right next to my head just about sharing my pillow with me. So sweet.

Tonya, I too am so sorry that it was time for Sasha to say goodbye to you in this world. I'm glad that she had a good day yesterday and she's at peace now. Fly free sweetheart and remember to let mommy know you're ok <3

Just went out and bought a digital frame and loaded a bunch of her photos to it so now she is in the corner of the room with me whenever I look up.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words today and throughout the last month as we took this terrible journey. Your support has been so very helpful to me. God has a funny way of working things out and if it weren't for FD we wouldn't have these bonds that we do.

I am trying to embrace this, but it is so terribly hard....

Tonya, I am so very sorry that you had to say so long to your beautiful Sasha. You gave her the hardest and most selfless gift possible. I think she's sending you peace so you'll know that you made the right decision by her. Sounds like she and Tiki might have had a little talk and she asked Tiki to let you know as well.

I think it's great that you have many pictures of Sasha and that you've placed them somewhere where you can see them every day. She will be with you always.
