We had to give punkin his insulin an hour early this morning because of the tsunami evacuation. great time to go to the beach, eh? So i dropped his dose from 7.5 to 5.5 and am assuming i should go back up to 7.5 tonight. Is that right?

i gave it to him at 6:30am - could i just keep it at 6:30pm tonight and tomorrow morning, in prep for daylight savings time change anyway?

Also, he's off on his food because we sat in the car inland for 4 hours waiting for the tsunami waves that haven't really materialized here on the Oregon coast. they still might, but we returned to the beach house. we're right on the ocean, literally, probably 25 feet vertically above the water, but out on a bit of cliffy promontory and nothing between us and the beach horizontally.

i gave him his usual food at +3, but he barely touched it and then finished it when we returned to the house, probably +4.5. so i expect the numbers will be off for a while.

going to update his SS now.

Re: 3/12 punkin AMPS 175 dosing advice needed

Hi, Julie.. no dosing advice from me, but so thankful to hear you all are Ok :thumbup
I was thinking of you this morning.. I called all around to find those syringes, about 20 vets in the area.. called the company, etc. completely struck out - no luck..at all.
I am going to order online though. Stay safe & someone will be along to help you re: dosing advice.

Re: 3/12 punkin AMPS 175 dosing advice needed

Oh my, please stay safe, Julie! nailbite_smile I hope the tsunami doesn't materialize.

I think reducing was wise since you had to shoot early, you didn't have much choice obviously! I see the +3 was higher, but that may have been due to stress. I would keep monitoring closely.

I would just keep the earlier shot time since you will need to adjust for DST in a day anyway. As far as going back to the 7.5u dose tonight, let's see what his numbers look like as the cycle progresses. I would think yes, providing he is eating and his numbers are not low at PS time...but let's see what happens and what others think.

So glad you're okay, Julie!

I don't have dosing advice, but would just say to keep an eye on what Punkin eats over the next few cycles... he may continue to feel stress and have a reduced appetitie as a result.

if only i had that reaction to stress.... *sigh*

stay safe!!

Re: 3/12 punkin AMPS 175 dosing advice needed

we're finally settled back in - they've called off the tsunami warning and are just now calling for high swells. we can do that! *whew*

he's at 138 now, at +6.

I'm wondering if this is an opportunity to drop his dose? I'll be able to check him on the regular every 3 hours the rest of the day and will check in here after posting his PMPS and before giving him his shot. That would be in about 5.25 hours from now.

Re: 3/12 punkin AMPS 175 advice needed +6/138 +9/155

Let's see where Punkin is at when you get to your +11. These numbers are looking very good.

Re: 3/12 punkin PMPS 234 dose Q?

Julie, I would go back to the 7.5u. Punkin is doing very well on that dose, I don't see any reason to reduce. Of course it's your decision, but I would not reduce if I were you.

Re: 3/12 punkin PMPS 234 dose Q?
