We've had 2 bad cycles in a row last night, now this morning. He seems to feel fine. Could this be a bounce. Insulin new since end of January, but I did leave our overnight a couple weeks ago. I do have a pen I can use if someone thinks insulin not good.

Not going to be able to dosecrease until Sunday.

Leaving the insulin out overnight shouldn't be an issue, really. It's not ideal, but generally not a problem. The pens were really designed to be out, so people could carry them with them. Refrigerating does extend the life, but don't worry about one night.

It MAY be getting a little old since the pen was started in January, but many people do get quite a bit of time out of their pens and vials.

Did you happen to retest at +6.5? I wonder if that was a bad test or bad strip.

It's possible this could be a bounce. Any chance Milo has gotten into any contraband?

No contraband that he could get into. He did go down at 7.5. Will retest at 8.5.
He's just had his low carb FF. Yesterday he did get eggs and bacon which reading only have minimal carbs.

I did get freeze dried Salmon cat treats, but those should be low carb also unless I'm missing something. He had a those yesterday.

Those are only changes. Opened vial end of January so on week 6 of that. Still clear with no clouds or floaties.

Double checked and no insulin smell on fur, so know not a fur shot. I was having issues with this batch of test strips. They are ones I got at diabetes online place recommended here. Last vial had at least 15 errored out. This I just opened last night. I should have retested at the 367 reading but he was done with me poking.

Come on down Milo - let's see some blues!

How are Milo's teeth? Any red gums? Just wondering when he last had a dental as dental issues can really mess with the BGs and are common with diabetics. Also, can you remind me - did you have any idea why Milo came out of remission after such a long time off? Did you have blood work done when he was rediagnosed?

This is good to know, I was just planning on placing an order, but now I am leaning towards just going back to Walmart and getting the Relion strips. Thanks for sharing this information.

Bacon can be cured with honey, maple syrup or sugar. We had one member who used it as a high carb tool. Did Milo get any today?

Did you contact ADW about the strips? Just wondering if they'd replace them for you. I haven't had any problem with their strips so far.

It was just regular bacon, I don' think honey cured. He didn't get any today. Just said premium cut bacon on package. I will double check package. They did do blood work when he came out of remission and everything was good. That was in late December. His teeth are fine, had a dental done with a couple extractions last February. I don't see any red gums or anything in his mouth. He had no ketones, kidney or any other issues in the blood work. Vet said teeth looked good. I might contact ADW and see what they say about the strips.

I took him in during October or November for skin issues, bumps and he was grooming areas excessively. That cleared and then his levels rose.

I bought from ADW all the time and never had trouble with anything being bad. They'll take things back within the first month after you buy it, though.

Bacon always has sugar in it. It's usually regular sugar but sometimes honey or maple syrup, but sugar is always part of it.

How long was he on insulin the first time? What kind of dose did he get to on insulin at that time?

When you got the bloodwork done, did that include T4 for hyperthyroid check? There are a number of secondary conditions that can make regulation harder. Typically, cats seem to need more insulin when they came back out of remission than they did the first time.

Back to dentals - did you have X-rays done at the time? So much can be happening under the gum line with cats that's not visible to the eye. Neko's teeth looked perfectly fine when she went to the vet in December, but I took her to the dental vet for some gum work cause she was grinding her teeth (her acromegaly causes soft tissue/gum growth). Anyway, a set of X-rays later and she's having an extraction cause one tooth was dieing and there was a hole from the root all the way down to her jaw line.
