Last night's low shooting was uneventful besides Mikey's +2 nadir. From today's AMPS, it looks like he also didn't double-dip this time.

That early nadir (and other times he's had just as early a nadir, like on 1/15, 1/20, and 2/18) have me wondering back to all the days he seemed to show high, but that's because I never got any earlier tests. For example, yesterday's AM cycle, I only tested him at +7. If I had done that on his PM cycle, I would have never known how nicely he'd been running prior. Or am I over-thinking this and it's safe to assume that it's fairly rare that he might have such an early nadir?

Michelangelo's 11-month birthday will be on Wednesday and I wanted to remark on a couple of things I've noticed these last couple of months since his 9-month birthday (which was the day before I got Henry):

• He's slowed significantly in his growing and no longer has pronounced growth spurts
• His dose has stabilized along with aforementioned growth spurts.
• He's hitting blues and greens consistently (almost every cycle).
• His suspected feline hyperesthesia symptoms have been significantly reduced to the point that the only video I've been able to get now is of the rippling skin.

I have no idea how much each of those influences the other, except for the FHS; this one is definitely all Henry's doing. Mikey still has the rippling, rolling skin, the corresponding yowling, and the dilated eyes, but the aggression is completely gone. I'm still considering eventually trying out Levemir to see if that helps further, but now that there's someone (Henry) to keep up with Mikey's energy levels, I can actually pet my own cat without having to look for signs that he's "high" and having to worry about being attacked!

Henry also might be to blame for the dose stabilization because even though Michelangelo is still growing a teeny bit, his dose hasn't really needed to be significantly adjusted since the beginning of February. Again, I contribute this to the increased calories Mikey is burning to keep up with Mr. Henry T. :lol: Henry arrived like a whirlwind and they now only have two modes: playing or sleeping. It's very rare to see either of them lounging about if the other is awake because they spend most of their days chasing after each other and wrestling and pouncing and driving me insane, especially when it's time for Mikey's AMPS/AMS or when it's time for bed. Last night, it took me almost an hour to get them wrangled for bed. :YMSIGH: I mentioned it last week, but this so perfectly summarizes what it's like having two kittens in the house that it's worth repeating:

I've had a litter of three boys (very similar to your two) for four years now. I can tell you, there's no "herding kittens" as well another litter of two brothers two years older than that (Chip and his brother -- kind of like Mikey and Henry only really brothers and both Maine Coon). So I have 5 big kittens like that running around all the time. No Herding.

Now if you have to close the door for bed, that can be a problem. I put a pet door on the master bathroom door, so even if the bedroom door is closed they can get in. All I need to do is go to bed and they all pile on. Or if they want out of the bedroom at dawns early light, I don't have to get up and open the door.

I think last night is another good example of how it's usually a good idea to "shoot low to stay low." :thumbup

I have no idea if he had an early nadir or if he will drop lower still (both of which he did yesterday) or none of the above and this is just some more random bouncing that keeps making me think my Lantus has lost its potency.

Now if you have to close the door for bed, that can be a problem. I put a pet door on the master bathroom door, so even if the bedroom door is closed they can get in. All I need to do is go to bed and they all pile on. Or if they want out of the bedroom at dawns early light, I don't have to get up and open the door.

This is my exact problem. I have roommates so I have one of their litter boxes in my bathroom and another 2 outside. At night, we lock up the house (my roommates don't feel comfortable with me leaving the back door open for the cats for some reason :lol: ). That means they need access to the litter box in my room and I sleep with my door closed (years of conditioning by firemen coming to my school and teaching us that closed doors prevent the spread of fire, plus...roommates). If I owned my own home, I would definitely put in a cat door to my bedroom. As it is, I'm just thankful that my carpet is past the 5 years renters' expiration date in CA because Henry has torn it to shreds in front of my door trying to get both in and out at all hours of the day and night. :roll:

Kpassa, your diligence and dedication to mikey and your life with cats just makes me love you more. Keep up the good work. I just keep telling myself this has gotta be easier than kids.. :lol: You always have a friend and place for you and your kitties to stay in RI

As it is, I'm just thankful that my carpet is past the 5 years renters' expiration date in CA because Henry has torn it to shreds in front of my door trying to get both in and out at all hours of the day and night. :roll:

Before I put in the interior pet door (out of exasperation) I was trying to find some combo of close some in close some out to get a moments peace.

They dug out the carpet (in shreds) kept going at subfloor digging all the way to China to get under the door. :shock:

The problem now is Chip and his brother can either one open almost any interior door. Chip is so long he can stand on his hind legs like a meercat and reach up with his front paws and turn the door knob. I had to leave town on Thanksgiving day for about 8 hours, Chip was surfing blue and I left him closed up in a bedroom with his own BG Turkey. Put a shelf in front of the door so he couldn't reach it. Came home he was still blue, by himself, and he ate most of his BG Thankgiving Turkey. When I tried the same thing several times at Christmas each time bathroom, bedroom I returned home to (unknown) numbers only to find him out, everyone else in and every bit of food I had down gone.

So he was surfing unknown greens for hours with no food available. More than one time. :?
