I meant to get up and check PMPS+11 but I slept right through it, so I assumed he was still breaking a bounce and have been checking and feeding hourly to prevent any diving. I don’t know if I’ve slowed him down too much today with the 9% though. Such a guessing game because he’s never the same.
@Wendy&Neko I’m sure you’re probably right about the vet not knowing about the cab or how we would use R. He has an appointment in July at NCSU scheduled. I’m not really sure who to email there now because Dr Lunn has left. I was emailing her before she left about Max and asked about Cab then. She said she didn’t mind trying it but SRT would be the best treatment. She was going to speak to Internal Med about Cab if that’s what I wanted, but I decided to go with SRT, so we never discussed further about the Cab. I’m not sure if the Internal Med vet Max was seeing is still there. She was a resident at the time and I’m not sure who to email now. Guess I could call and find out.

About the R, do you think we should try this with Max’s bouncing? You said before that you wanted to see how he did on 5.5 units. If you think it would help, when would it be given in the cycle? At pmps, if he’s way over 250? Or should I get through those first couple of hours to make sure he won’t dive anyway, then give it @ about +4 if he’s going up/high enough? My goal is to prevent the bounces from getting so high. I know you said we’d build a scale and start with 0.1 for his dose. So do you have an answer yet on whether we should try it with him? If you don’t think we should I will go with your honest opinion over the vets for sure. I know I will need help learning how. Marje told me she did this with Gracie and it helped, but I know Max is more complicated so I just don’t know if that’s something to keep bringing up or just forget it. Thank you for your reply yesterday. I really value your opinions.

One concern with using R is that you don't want to use it on a cat that breaks bounces quickly. Bounce breaking cycles are active, piling R on top would make even steeper drops causing even worse drops. I can see a couple cycles (3/8 PM, yesterday) where R might have been useful. But that's in hindsight. Yesterday AM could have also gone like 3/7 AM. You don't want to use R on a bounce breaking cycle. Can you predict what will be a bounce cycle vs a bounce breaking cycle?

Yes, most of the time I can tell the difference. The bounce breaking cycles usually nadir at the end of the cycle or even beyond. Right? The bounce cycles steadily go up and stay high and flat. I was thinking yesterday might have been a good time to try it. Cycles like yesterday is when I’d want to use it. Max isn’t always predictable (to me anyway) but most of the time I can tell the difference. I have that same concern over making him dive worse than he does already so I’d want to make sure it was definitely going to be a bounce cycle. I do think yesterday R would have been helpful though. I don’t know how we could coordinate all of that when you or someone is available to help me though. How would that work until I could be confident on my own?

What I meant to say was, if you see a pink preshot, how good are you at predicting whether it'll be bounce breaking or a bounce cycle. You want to know before you shoot.

You would run the first couple experiments with a helper on line the same time. After that we could give you some guidelines for you to follow as you did things on your own. And then follow up later when able to.

When Max has a pink preshot, the only way I know how to tell if it’s a bouncing cycle is to get a +10 or +11 from the previous cycle to see if he’s going up or down.

That's a good clue. Neko's +9 told me a similar thing. And that means you can avoid giving R on a bounce breaking cycle. As for time of cycle to give R, I'd start with the experiment at preshot time, when you know it's a bounce cycle, meaning you have that earlier test. Later, as you gather data, you can move to giving R later in the cycle, when it's obvious he's climbing.

Okay so if I see that he’s going to bounce and I want to try it, should I just post something asking for help with R? I guess you might would see it for the PMPS. If you don’t I just won’t do it. I don’t think there’s anyone else that I know of who could help.
