Little higher than before. You could continue for a couple more cycles or you could try a fat 1.25. The 1.5 was really close, and you did get a shootable pmps most of the time. What do you think?

Angela, to be considered regulated, you want Henry to be in the 200s preshot and at least in the 100s or lower at nadir. He is really close to that. Once you get those kinds of numbers on a pretty regular basis, then you can push for lower numbers, if you want.

Think I will stay with the 1.25 or make it a little closer to 1.50 for a few more cycles.
I would be way happy if he was just regulated; I am happy now that he doesn't exhibit clinical signs of frequent drinking, peeing, eating and more weight loss.
Just would like the AM numbers down more. At least hes not in the mid to high 500's anymore and hasn't been for over a month even when we hadn't started trying BID again.
Its just a slow process and I must be patient and glad when he has better numbers.

Hi Angela,

I'm so happy you are shooting twice a day, I think once Henry gets used to getting insulin on a consistant basis his AM numbers will come down.

I agree with Sue, the 1.5u was giving you near perfect nadirs so when you're ready to start moving up I say go for it.

Glad he's feeling and acting better too.

Robin

Being patient ain't easy, especially when it comes to the health of your kitty. You're doing good though. Like you said, I would maybe creep the dose up a little if the PS's and nadir stay higher.

Sending the best to you both! I know it is so hard to be patient, you just want everything to be right.
We’ll all get there one step at a time :)
:thumbup

Hmmm, yeah, darn, the 1.25 is looking definitely too low for me, and no improvement in that AMPS like I had hoped. My mind swims when I look at the data, sometimes the 1.5 looks too high to me, sometimes it looks too low. I would probably stick with increasing in increments of 0.2 every 3-5 days, and just getting more data as you go. Things usually become clear sooner or later!!! It would be interesting to see an early morning test, like a +9 or a +10 before the AMPS to see if he is just zooming up right at the end, or running high earlier than that. Well really, a full night-time curve would be interesting, but I realize that is pretty impractical :).

p.s. if you haven't already, you might try posting on Health about the wide variance in his AM & PM PSs. I've seen cats before that have some difference, but nothing on this scale. ECID I guess, always something new to see & learn about! At least he's consistent, right?

PMPS 260 1.25 U
He's consistent in no being able to figure out his data.
I will try to get middle of night test but its hard to do. I worked an all night home care job for almost 2 years and was always sleep deprived, slept a few hours during the day and just felt terrible. After that ended last July, I have tried to be in bed by 12 most nights, but if up I will try. DH is usually up between 3-4 but sometimes has a hard time getting test without help but will see if we can.
