Hey friends! Sorry for posting so late today. I was up super late last night because Gen's BG kept setting off the Libre alarm (I gave him a reduced dose after syringe feeding him, but apparently not reduced enough, or not fed enough. I got up twice in the wee hours to syringe feed more. I think we were both very tired of it by the end.) Then I overslept badly - I'm going to have to come up with some alternate alarm for tomorrow, when I must go back to the office, or I'm going to be really late for work. And my wfh day was very busy, plus it's my mother's 75th birthday, so we had a good long video call. Then I wound up working late, which I'm not thrilleda bout.

Anyway. Gen ate a little on his own today, though not even a quarter of one of his regular meals. 😮‍💨 If the anti-nausea meds are doing anything right now, it's not much. He's had two ondansetron today about 6 hours apart (he'll have another in about an hour), and the mirtazapine around the same time as the second dose. But he was once again sniffing eagerly at food and then walking away in the late afternoon/evening. Including the one he'd been eating a few hours before.

He seemed very interested in the Rayne rabbit I set out, so I decided to try syringe feeding that today, as I'm nearly out of Recovery and Hill's a/d. I guess I'm going to shoot this evening, but I'm going down to .5u, because I have got to sleep tonight.

Also, there have been such shenanigans with our stupid budesonide prescription. I've had to call the animal hospital repeatedly to nudge the prescribing doctor for every step of the process (please send the prescription in! please approve the order for the prescribed meds!) ... and then today I got a call from Chewy (wound up going with them instead of Wedgewood) to tell me that the quantity I'd ordered would go bad before it could be used (was this explained to me/was I given a quantity to order? nope, just a daily dosage amoung). So I had to cancel the order and have them resubmit one for me for a safe amount ... which the damn doctor will now have to approve. Again.

I don't know if the budesonide will help with Gen's inappetence, or if so how quickly that will happen, but I'm a little at my wit's end and this isn't helping. Syringe feeding just doesn't get enough food into him - it would take forever and he would not tolerate that quantity. And tomorrow he's going to be home alone for 8-9 hours, so I can't experiment or nudge him or anything like that.

Also, he still hasn't really pooped at all. I found one very small, hard piece in the litterbox this morning (along with plenty of pee, so that's something at least).

So yeah, I continue to be very worried and frustrated. Sorry for yet another wall of stressed-out text, friends. I hope Wednesday has treated all of you well, kitties included of course!

I wish I knew how to help. :-(

Sending lots and lots of love for you and Gen. The steroid can definitely help. It also makes it so that the elimination diet isn't necessarily needed since the steroid is treating the inflammation.

Eat more Gen! <3
