Good evening LL!
I hope everyone is having a good night. Clyde is up a bit from where he had been a couple of days ago. I will get a couple more tests in tonight to see where he goes. I'm hoping for a nice surf in the green tonight.
I think I have enough insulin to last into next week. I will look to see how he does and go from there. I'm suspecting one of two things is going on. Either he is dropping too low during the cycle and this is the result or he's fighting off what Max has. I'm hoping for the former.
I had a return trip to the vet tonight with Max. I took him in on Monday because his upper respiratory infection came back and the third eyelid was covering between 1/4 and 1/2 his right eye. The vet gave Max an antibiotic said they would call me on Thursday to see how he's doing but call them if he looks like he's getting worse.
I had been wiping off his nose whenever it looked like it built up on it. Unfortunately, when I got home tonight his third eyelid had turned from almost translucent to pure white and the mucus build up seemed to have bits of blood in it.
The vet had me come in as soon as I got home from work. She took some blood work and did an xray of his nasal cavity. The right side looked solid on the x-ray. Without doing an MRI or other test (I don't remember what she said) she can't confirm it is a tumor, but knowing his age (15), it is likely. At 15, considering he also has CKD, if it is a tumor I don't see that treating it will significantly extend the quality of his life. The other alternative is that the solid area is completely due to the infection.
She gave him a steroid shot and some other medication to help him with any discomfort he may be having and to try and help clear up the infection. At this point all I can do is try and treat the infection and help him maintain his quality of life. She isn't sure if the steroid shot will help or not but it is worth a try. Based on the blood work, she may try and change the antibiotic he is on to something that is more effective.
