Halfway through the week!

I take back what I said in my last post, I do think the sugar coating might be having an impact on his numbers. It could be the decrease too or even just his new normal fluctuations. We’ll likely increase tomorrow to compensate.

In other news, heard back from both the IM and my vet about the cost of Cabergoline and they’re both similar at around $300/month. The IM said they’d require me to use a Libre if I start the treatment, which I don’t mind but also don’t feel like I need to with how I monitor. My vet also said they would recommend me going through the IM instead, aka not open to learning. That leaves me in a bit of a pickle deciding how to proceed, because the IM is unnecessarily far and I fear we’d butt heads. Plus the IM is away until April. Time to think I guess and see how his thyroid goes.

Eek. Such a quandary Briana!
So many contradictory issues there.
Doesn’t seem you need a Libre, you test and it’s not an issue for you.

I’m sorry the regular vet isn’t willing to be your go to doctor for these issues

Good luck with the dosing, you’ll see how it goes with the Methimazole.
Do you want to see about getting some without that coating?

Yes, I think I'm just going to use these red pills until we retest him in 2 weeks because I don't want to interrupt treatment ahead of that. Afterwards, I will ask for the same pills you have. When I flagged the sugar coating to the IM, they did mention the version you have but said they only come in 5mg doses, which I already knew. And @Elaine and Ember said she used to 1/4 the pills for her cats, so I think getting the 1.25mg dose is possible. Definitely my preference if I can!
