Good Morning Lantus Land, ~O) ~O) ~O)

Some days one should not try to follow the radio, computer, tv, land line, and cellphone all at the same time....

Our world is rocking and rolling this morning from friends calls in Tokyo to Hawaii, Oregon, Washington and I am still expecting a check-in call sometime today from a my marine nephew in Okinawa....

If you're just waking up there is a major earthquake event in Japan with tsunami warnings and watches issued for Hawaii and the west coast of America. There's been a 4.5 quake in Hawaii this morning...the nephew's wife and children are still in Hawaii...

We have our own winterwonderland here this morning. The trees are all dressed in white and it is very beautiful.

Attie continues to do very well and it looks like he surfed blue through the night last night. This morning is up and playtime. I love watching him play. He is like watching a toddler chasing a ball as where MudCat is all the athletic grace of a stealth cat. I watched her playing yesterday with a wiffle ball and it was pure dance. Attie though...really makes me smile :-D

Gary is up this morning too. He started meowing the minute he heard us up. Course it didn't help that Attie was chasing the golf ball down the hallway to the foster room door. Gary has been been fed too, but he continues to chat away in the room. I checked on him and he is sitting in the cat tree chattering away at nothing. Just laying there talking. I went in and gave him some attention, but I think sometimes he just like to hear himself talk.

Good Morning. I know it is terrible news and I just saw the highlights on nternet news. Very scary news today and prayers will be going up. I hope your friends will be okay.
Can I send Maggie to your house in the middle of the night, as she is so playful, and all she has is me. It sounds like she would just fit in there for a visit.

The friends in Tokyo are reporting in fine, but quite shaken up...no pun intended. Lots of broken glass and one says fires around them.

I have not heard from a friend in Hokkaido. He teaches ESL. At this point I'd love to even read a peep about the area...

Of course with the Marines you don't get news until it is over. So, I don't expect to hear from him until Sunday or even later. Family in Hawaii is fine and prepping to bugg-out to high ground.

CNN was showing the tsunami waves live on TV....amazing and heartbreaking to watch knowing the folks there really didn't have time. And it was waves, not just one wave. That was about 2:17am.

Plus it appears the Daichii nuclear reactor doesn't have enough power for the cooling pumps to cool the reactor core. There are no leaks right now, which is very good. If they can't circulate cooling water and the reactor melts down it will be contained.

Tsunami barrels toward Hawaii, US western coast

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110311/ap_ ... pacific_16

The first waves to hit Hawaii could reach 6 feet high and were expected to hit about 3 a.m. local time (9 a.m. EST.)

The tsunami slammed the eastern coast of Japan, sweeping away boats, cars, homes and people as widespread fires burned out of control. It's traveling at 500 mph — as fast as a jetliner — and likely won't change speed until it hits a large area of land, said Kanoa Koyanagi, a geophysicist for the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

Waves are predicted to hit the western coast of the United States between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. EST Friday. People near the beach and in low-lying coastal areas of Point Conception in Santa Barbara County were told to move immediately inland to higher ground.

While the tsunami is likely to go around smaller islands, the size of Hawaii's islands will amplify the waves, which will crash hardest against harbors and inlets.

I hope our west coast cats are up and moving out!

Prayers for all who are affected by the quake. There's been a tsunami warning for the West Coast of Canada as well. My heart goes out to all of them, it's been such a tough start to the year.

Funny to hear about Gary talking to himself, sometimes Tray does that. looks like he has an imaginary friend. Perhaps they see ghosts.

Hope you and the gang enjoy your Friday

Hi Beth, I hope that your family and friends are on high ground by now. The Tsunami is really awful. Mother Earth is angry and restless, and who can blame her?

Nice start to the day for Attie, especially the playing, and nice to read that Gary is amusing himself.

Mami/Akane are OK -- Jill sent her a note. They are far enough from the epicenter that they were not effected by the water but even 600km away, felt the shock of the earthquake.

Prayers for the safety of CD who's visiting with her family in Maui. They are on high ground and so, hopefully, safe. (We are not allowing CD to visit family this time of year again. There was an earthquake last year at this time, too.)

For those on the West Coast, please stay safe.

Looks and sounds like the experts are saying they dodged the bullet again. Initial reports indicate little to no damage anticipated...

Now let's just hope California and Canada don't get a false sense of security and have fools down on the shore.
