Today I dropped Georgie's dose down to 1 unit I am still afraid he may drop low today. I will keep monitoring him will be gone for a few hours for work today. I will test as much as I can. I never knew what a huge difference food change could make. Fingers crossed. Learning new stuff everyday.

Food can make a HUGE difference. My Maxwell went into remission on just a change in food and as remained insulin free for 3 years and counting. My newest adopted sugar kitty went from 11u bid to.75u and dropping just with a diet change and home testing. :-D

WOW!! GOOD TO KNOW! Congrats to Maxwell! With Lantus is there a good feeding time? I was doing some research but was unsure. I am wondering what time span works best between meals.

Well I have 16...yes 16 cats but only 3 are diabetic. But my herd eat 3 times a day sometimes 4 I feed breakfast at 7a.m. with the morning shot, a snack lunch at +6 then a big dinner again at pmps with another light snack right before bed around +4ish.

Others only feed twice a day and some others free feed kinda depends on your cat and your schedule.

I just tested again and my relion micro meter says "Hi". So this meter doesn't give a number if it's too high? Also this meter is usually 40-60 points higher? Confusion. I read a post that said don't worry about the high numbers for now, just the low numbers. I am just concerned he will drop off severly and I have to got to work for four and a half hours.

Hi is over 600 normally. Personally when I get either a hi or lo (under 20) I retest to make sure its a good read. Every now and then you get a bad strip. But if he's truly that high he's got a lot of room to come down so I wouldn't worry about leaving him for work.
