? 3/10 Sunny AMBG 254, +3 140, +6 92 out of remission?

Poor Sunny appears to be out of remission. I noticed he was acting cranky yesterday and today, and he was 254 this am for fasting blood glucose. He had been in remission since June of 2023.

I'm making an appt with the vet to check for any infection. He is stressed right now, as we are dog sitting, and Sunny is uneasy around the big dog. I think that could be contributing.

I'm wondering about the option to use bexacat this time around -- but have read that if the cat has EVER been on insulin, they are not a candidate. Is that a fact? Have there been any other users on the message board who have tried going to bexacat (years after insulin use)?

thanks

FYI I'll recheck him ~3 hour after his breakfast. I'm wondering if he got into something high carby last night. He may have eaten some of our visitor dog's food.

Checked him at +3 since breakfast, and he is now at 140bg - I also checked his ketones with my blood ketone meter and it says LO which means ketones too low to register. No history of DKA by the way.
So I'm assuming this drop in bg means that he at least has some functioning beta cells producing insulin....
I'm going to continue to monitor bg and hope that it comes down into normal range.
His fasting bg check one month ago was 85.

Looks like Sunny's pancreas is still working well. :D

That would be a NO on doing Bexacat. I had a long talk with my vet recently about Senvelgo (same as Bexacat but liquid) as she had to resort to it for a mostly feral cat client. As per what Bhooma linked, prior use of insulin precludes it's use.
