Yucky outside, rainy day. Yucky BGs today too. Max is continuously sitting at his cat table looking at his bowl. He wants more food than usual, guess it’s because of the hyperglycemia. I don’t know what his BG did last night, whether he went down or gradually climbed up. Hi @Wendy&Neko you don’t think Max needs another increase right? Just wait this out? I really hate that he’s going back up.

I scheduled Max’s vet exam and labs for next Wednesday. I scheduled with his primary vet because I have quite a few questions. She’s always respected my wishes on Max’s dosing, but I’m going to see what she thinks of his current dose and the possibility of R for Max, whether she thinks it would help or make his bouncing worse. I’m still on the fence about that, but a vial is still sitting in my fridge and I can’t put it out of my mind completely. Honestly, common sense tells me it may make him bounce worse than he does, but I kind of wonder if giving it to him at the right time, would help. Someone else told me it did help their bouncy cat once they got experienced enough in using it. I know ECID though. I don’t know if Max’s vet would give me an opinion about using R with him. I do know that would require a lot of testing too but I’d definitely do it if it could help. I had also wondered if later on, she might consider Cabergoline for Max if it doesn’t look like SRT is helping anymore. I have no idea if that’s ever been an option for a cat who has had SRT or if that’s even safe to do. He’s nearly 18 months s/p SRT now, so that’s not something I would do anytime soon unless his doses kept increasing. What is best for Max? I know there is no clear cut answer, but opinions are good to hear. If I should do nothing more than what I’m doing and go with the flow until the end, then I just need to be told that. I think I’d be able to accept it if that’s what is best. It’s hard to stop feeling like I can make something better. If nothing else should be done, and we just stay on top of dose increases, I want to know so I can put my mind at ease and just let it go. I guess it can’t hurt to ask.

I decided to give him longer before increasing, since he got down to 53 a few days ago. Hopefully he can break this tonight or tomorrow and not build up toxicity. He’s been a few days without green now, that’s usually not good for him. We will see though. Hard sitting on my hands sometimes, but I will. Someone told me not long ago that it’s hard not to, but don’t chase the numbers. I have to keep reminding myself of that.

I'm glad you held the dose. You aborted the cycle a couple days ago, who knows how low he might have gotten without that.

As for cabergoline, why don't you drop a line to the IM vet at NCSU. I don't know of anyone who has given it following SRT so don't know if it's medically OK. Not sure you primary vet would know those details. By the way, it can take a couple years for the full effects of SRT to show.

Also, be aware that not many vets would use R the way we would. They use it mostly in emergencies such as DKA. And aren't even that familiar with how numbers can fluctuate as we are with our use of spreadsheets. I have only seen one paper refer to using R with acros as an additional tool.
