Good morning. Oof. That was rough time change. Following a very late night of lower numbers for Ivy.

We decided to keep her on current dose of 4 units. She’s been very active lately and showing green nadirs.

I fed higher carbs 12.5% for dinner and snacks at +1,2,3 last night to keep her higher while I went out, but she decided she was going to go lower anyway. Girl on a mission. Luckily she really waited until right around when I got home at +3 and then continued her descent through the evening.
At least I was here to monitor closely, so that was good.
She bounced up high at the end of the cycle to pink but is already down to blue now, before +3.

She did eat her snacks from the feeder last night and this morning, so good news there!!

There seems to be a Libre sensor glitch I’m noticing lately when she stays in very low readings (Lo) for an extended period of time (of over an hour, sometimes the Libre stops reading). If she stays in the “Lo” zone and there are readings, I can see if she goes up or down in the range on the graph on app on my phone if it’s reading. Then I know it’s time to ear prick with a handheld.
I’m not really sure what that glitch is. Maybe the sensor just can’t keep up with the lows. It may be something I just have to keep a close eye on now that we are spending more time in that green zone of lower numbers for Ivy.

She was still feisty with me this morning at shot time. She does hold a grudge once she gets an annoyed by all the fussing and poking.

I actually had to get assistance from DH last night when I wanted to prick her ear. That’s not great because he’s not around that much (either late at night or during the weekday). Mom‘s on deck 24/7 solo.
Hoping today is a little smoother than yesterday now that the time change is over.
I will be cooking her lamb today. I have two roasts that I bought that need to be cooked by today so I will have a good supply and ready to make her food.

Trying to get motivated and muster some energy here.

Hi Staci
Your girl sure has stamina and strong personality. Poor you for needing to poke her when you know how tender it is for her.
Looks like you had some action with number and Libre. I hope you manage to sort this out. You've given so much attention to learn the way Libre works that I can imagine how frustrating it can be when it glitches. Could you change it to see if you get more reliable readings?

Sounds like a good plan to hold the dose with so much action.
I hear you about the annoyance of the times change. we're shifting at the end of the month. It's a pain.

Oh my Staci! And she looks so sweet! They’re just lucky they’re so darn cute, arent they! I think the time change affects them more than we realize. Tigers appetite is completely off today.
I think some of these sensors are glitchy sometimes. Off the wall numbers occasionally and dropping offline for no apparent reason.

Hi Staci! Oliver uses the Freestyle Libre3 and there is definitely a learning curve. We havent experiences LO readings but are quite verse on HIGH readings lol. There is a facebook group that has been very helpful in learning about this device.: Freestyle Libre for Dogs and Cats (sorry if i'm not allowed to post this).
We use the Libre as Oliver is the same way when going to prick his sensitive ears. Hope this helps you and Ivy!

Maybe Ivy thought you needed a test, too. You know, along the lines of tit for tat or you poke me, I'll poke you. It sure can't be easy for them to understand why we poke. I know I've hugged and apologized to Purrl many a time when testing.

I hope Ivy's not a long grudge holder for your sake.

Such feistiness! I'm sorry you got scratched up pretty badly - please keep an eye on an cat scratches and bites - those suckers turn bad fast.

And this time change? Hate it. And I made the decision to change her shot time from 6 to 7 since a later time will work better for Eric while I'm gone, so I got the same amount of sleep (even if the clock says different). But it definitely threw off my morning - thinking I had more time than I actually had before I needed to leave.

I hope you have a chance to have some relaxing moments today.

I agree with @Alicia & Kit cat; cat bites can be nasty so I hope you washed it really, really well and put antibiotic ointment on it. When I volunteered at a cat shelter, I was bitten on the finger by a feral cat (thankfully it had had the rabies vaccine) but I ended up in the ER with an horribly infected arm even though I had immediately washed it and put something on it. But it went right up my arm and I had to have heavy duty antibiotics so please keep an eye on your wounds.

I know we’ve discussed this before but are you still burritoing her? If not, perhaps you should or I wonder if a Thunder shirt would help her. I know at the shelter when we had to deal with feral cats, we made sure we had a towel across their eyes as well and that seemed to calm them.

I hope you will step back for a minute and look how far you’ve come in helping Ivy. You are using a different injection method, you are now using calipers, you can see when she loses duration vs starting a bounce, and you are doing TR!!! You’ve stepped out of your comfort zone and done so many things to help her and I am very proud of you. I wish I had that hand clapping emoji but I’m to lazy to find one online to put in here But you deserve a standing ovation because Ivy’s SS is looking better and better.

Hope you get a few winks today.

Well it sure looks that way!! She seems very happy to be in her space again. It’s very quiet there and I know she feels very secure. I’m so relieved. And now I know for sure her preferences (the princess and the pea, lol)

But it went right up my arm and I had to have heavy duty antibiotics so please keep an eye on your wounds.

That’s terrifying but I’ve heard that before. None of my wounds are that deep, but always watching when we have an episode. She can be a bit of a terror

I’ve really never been able to burrito her. She gets even more manic when restricted.
I’ve learned with her,
the best device is to leave and let her calm down. Sometimes that takes a day or 2. I usually just give her space and time and eventually she comes up to me looking for affection and apologies to me. I wait until she’s ready.
Of course with immediate testing needs I can’t wait things out at that level…so I have to assess my risk/reward In a given situation.

I think a Thunder shirt could be an issue to put on top of her tube top which covers the Libre. I can’t really risk wriggling more things on and off for fear of dislodging the darned and precious sensor (sigh).

I hope you will step back for a minute and look how far you’ve come in helping Ivy.
