***Warning****I am feeling a bit more than frustrated right now. ****Warning****

I am so freakin' done with this Lantus BS. Yes, that is how I am feeling right now. It is BS. This is not how I want to live my life and this is not how I want Atlas to be feeling everyday freakin' day! Eat, sleep, poop, pee ...no life, no verve to see the birds etc., no play factors. I want him to get better and this whole damn procedure is not producing the results...after 1.5 years on Lantus we're no better regulated than we were when we started.

When I can cobble together the money, we're seeing the vet and getting off this stupid insulin and onto something that will help him. I see no other answer at this point. I have Gary that needs his routine vet visit and I have Atlas that is going for his full blood work-up next month plus dental. The last thing I need is for other health complications with him...like a DKA.

I can't go up in his dosage and going down isn't holding. Shave this way ...shave that way. BS. Use a magnifying glass to measure...F' that!! Overall his numbers SUCK and Lantus is NOT holding him down in the numbers we need for a healthy life.

Yeah... I'm done...this caregiver is burnt toast.

(((((Beth))))) maybe Lantus isn't the right insulin for Atlas, maybe Levemir would work better for him. If you're not having results after a year and a half maybe it is time to try something new - and get some hope back into the equation, more hugs ((((Beth))))

Morning, Beth

The only words of encouragement are... Please don't give up. {{{{{{{{{{BETH}}}}}}}}}} We all feel, and/or felt the frustration in the beginning, and yes, some of us took longer to get our cats where they are now. It can happen, though. It's just a very slow process in getting regulated, and perhaps Lantus isn't the right insulin for Atlas, like someone above me just mentioned. {{{{{HUGS BETH & ATLAS}}}}} Please just hang in there. Hopefully someone will come by to help you proceed with this.

And here's something to hopefully make you feel better... :-D

Angela, I am sorry...I don't mean to be rude...BUT IT HAS BEEN 1.5 YEARS. I am not new, Atlas is not new and hanging in there isn't making him any better. 1.5 YEARS is not a 'slow process' it is a complete failure.

Have a look at Checkers' ss, he just changed to lev recently and it looks like it's doing great things for him, maybe that is just what Atlas needs.

Sending many many many more cyber hugs for you this morning Beth.

I don't think Levemir is the answer with Atlas. His dosages have ranged this past year from below .025 to over 3u. And it is up, then down, then up and right now...

I can't increase and can't hold. cat(2)_steam

I am thinking Attie would be better regulated on PZI so we're not trying to manage his variable numbers and sputtering pancreas on an inflexible insulin.

Re: 3/10 Atlas AMPS 328

You know him best, Beth. Just remember to breathe. You are doing so much for him, and he surely knows it. Hopefully a switch will start to make a difference for him. I'll be keeping a good thought for you guys.

Re: 3/10 Atlas AMPS 328

aw, beth, i'm so sorry you're so frustrated. i noticed you were absent this week and was hoping things were ok. i think switching to a new insulin is a great idea. nothing to lose, you know? personally, i'm intrigued by the lev because of how several of the kitties who were kinda all over the map have flattened out tremendously. i just mentioned this morning that i'm thinking about switching punkin to it.

but you know both lev & prozinc, and if you try one, give it a decent chance and it doesn't work, then maybe the other will. it's good to be considering your other options. you have choices and you can decide to make a change. :YMHUG:

I too am sorry for your frustration, and I can understand it. If you think another insulin will help, then go for it, and give it a try. You know Attie better than anyone, know what is best for him. I am sure you will make the right decision.
