Good Mornin everyone!
Maggie is feeling good; she awakened me at 3 am! It's okay; I am a morning person anyway. I think her first BG could have been lower, but I left a little FF out overnight, and it was gone when I got up. Do you all leave some food overnight for your sugar kitties? I didn't set the alarm and thought I'd automatically wake every 2 hours as I usually do, but I must have been really tired to sleep thru,

Re: 3/10 Ann & Maggie AMPS 171

Morning ann...some people make little frozen pucks with the food in ice cube trays and leave one out to defrost for the kitty. Others use timed feeders that are very convenient. I get up at 4 am and check Shadow and give them both snacks. It's good if you know approx when Maggie eats because you don't want her eating within 4 hours of AMPS or so...
Hope you guys have a great day today...looking good!!

Hi Pat,
Good idea about the ice cube trays. Thanks. I think I need to set alarm for 2:30 am. Then I can go back to bed. How is Shadow today? Maggie says she's ready to party with him, so hope he's feeling better. I have to read some threads; trying to wake up and put my face on and go out early! ~O)

Hi,
I don't think my +11=59 number was correct. I bought some new lancets, and the Pharmacist recommended 21 gauge. The Lancets I had been using were 25 gauge, and then Maggie moved while I was sliding the blood onto the strip. If we don't get a big enough drop, can it give an incorrect reading? When I went back to the 25 gauge (had a few left), I got a bigger drop and the BG was 129! I haven't been using the pen popper mechanism, only the pen with the lancet itself.

some meters will still give you a reading if there isn't enough blood. Others will give you an error message (which seems like what they *should* do!).

21 gauge seems really big!

Hi Libby,
I wonder if that Pharmacist didn't know... I told him it was for my cat, and he knows that I get my insulin there. I said I wanted something a little lighter than the 25 gauge I was using, and he said the lower the number the lighter, but I think it is the opposite, right! I should have gotten a 26 gauge lancet.
