Good Morning Everyone,

Just read the Wellness recall and find that all the food I brought with us is on the list! Will go shopping this morning. Rusty eats Wellness turkey almost exclusively. He doesn't have any symptoms, but he hasn't played with his usual vigor for about a week now. I will watch him. We go home tomorrow and I'll be able to inspect the other cans

Rusty had a good night. Ate his faulty Wellness. Didn't much feel like playing. Did show a lot of interest in the passing scene outside the window.

Sunshine today. Yea. Tax man this afternoon.L

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 157

Rusty's liking watching the big city peoples going by, huh? :-D
Sunshine help to soften the blow of tax day, Ella? Hope you have some fun while you're there.

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 157

Good morning, Ella!

So sorry about the food problems. Hopefully the new food you buy today will bring Rusty back to his usual playful self. I don't know anything about thiamine deficiency in cats but I'd imagine that any kind of deficiency would result in a less playful kitty, so maybe that's what's up with Rusty. I am also going cat food shopping today- whee! Enjoy the sunshine and good luck with the tax man!

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 157

Some of the recalled food has low thiamine (B1) levels - according to the letter, they are just being "safe" recalling all flavors.

I've got 4 cases of 12 oz cans to deal with

Vitamin deficiency would take a while to show up, and B vitamins do help with energy levels.

Re: 3/1 Rusty AMPS 157

Come back down Rusty! I hope this may just be a little travel stress.

We have recalled cans too and i know some of what we have fed Tess were in those lots. There are a lot of sites w/ info here is one i checked out. http://www.cat-world.com.au/thiamine-deficiency-in-cats The most worrisome thing to me is that it aids in the metabolization of carbs.

I'm wondering if a B-1 supplement would help at this point, but have no idea how much would be appropriate.

Lost my post again. Well, won't write it again except to say that all cans of Wellness had been pulled off the shelves at Petco.

Taxes are done.

Ella

Thanks for all the info on vitamin B1

Hi guys! It is nice to see Rusty down some by the +10. back to the greens for your boy!

bummer on the wellness. that took out about 2/3 of my stock.

I am glad that your taxes are done. Must feel great for you to be able to day that. :-D

have a safe trip home tomorrow!

Hey Rusty! Tess needs help with the rope. I am wayyyyyyy up there, so high I can't even see you guys. later, when I return to planet earth.... Mannie

Rusty to the rescue!! Hope the rope is long enough.

Bought some small cans in the Whole Foods Market and they have good dates. I suspect Wellness is going to be hard to come by until the stores restock. I plan to find some alternatives. May have to go to Potsdam for BG, or to the high end store in Plattsburgh. Have lots of Cowboy Cookout from Stu, but it doesn't agree with Rusty. I think I also have EVO cans at home. Just bought a case of Wellness, so maybe it's a good lot.

See you all late tomorrow.

Hope all is well in LL
