WOW! What a party that must have been last night! Rumor has it Latte and Shadow may have taken a dip in the blue ocean together for a while! :o She came back restless and excited, but then had no desire to wake this a.m...all the activity surely exhausted her! ;-)

So back to business it is. Last night Recap:

PMPS-267 (increase to 1.75)
+1-313 ( ohmygod_smile had to have that one last word after such a good day in yellow! Pred)
+2-198 (only tested because of behavior - excessive drinking and walking around a lot)
+3-198 (not going anywhere...that was a BIG drop in 1hr btw!)
+4-277 (pred talking)
+5-299 (tryin' so hard to stay outta the pink)
+6.5-221

Latte actually had a tough night. She was extremely restless from her +2 drop until about +7. She couldnt stop drinking water and was choking from it. I took it away at one point for about 30 min and she stood in that spot staring at where her water should be the entire time. Aside from the baby food she devoured spoon by spoon btw +2 and +3, she would not eat no matter what I tried (5 cans, 2 different bowls of kibble, zillions of different treats, eating straight from a can, etc). I was worried of her not eating overnight since she has been unreliable in that regards, the dose increase, and giving insulin in the a.m. on an empty tummy. So, I did the thing I sooooooo did not want to do....Syringe fed  We both took it well, but we both felt bad about it. Back in the day, on occassion, a syringe feeding could often jump start her to eating. I did not feed a lot (20ml in 2 sittings), so she would maybe be hungry overnight still, but at least have a teensy bit of food on board to prevent vomiting in the a.m.

she did not eat overnight, as expected. She did not want to get up this a.m. (cant blame her - we only had 4hrs sleep). And, she showed me how she felt about what went down in the last 12hrs by offering a little urine sample on my lap as I tested her for amps.

She is showing improvements as the minutes go on this a.m....eaten nearly 3/4 can wellness, walking around, jumped on the couch to look out window, and of course now drinking again. Hopefully she continues to eat better and has a nice easy drop to a comfortable surf with the new dose today.

Hope everyone has a great start to the new Month!!!!!

good morning, carolyn and Latte. Sorry to see that Latte had such a bad evening and I'm sending better day and good eatin vibes your way.

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247

Latte, you danced beautifully last night. Now it's time to focus on eating lots more good food! Today will be a good day!

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247

Sorry to hear Latte had a rough night. Sending get better and eating vines. I hope she has a better day, Carolyn.

Hugs to you both!

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247

Glad to hear she's feeling a bit better today.

Eat, Latte, eat! ;-)

Seriously, girlfriend...ease Momma's mind and do some munching on the good stuff today.

Hope you're feeling better yourself, Carolyn!

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247

Hopefully, Latte was just having an 'off' night last night. It's good to hear that she's more interestsed in her breakfast than she was her dinner.

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247

+2-242
almost 1 can wellness eaten.

I will take this as her gift to me...

No drop at +2 means btb! YA!!!!! Not in the best range, but soooooooo much better than anything else we have seen lately. Looks like a static day on the new dose, or heaven forbid a fur shot (always worry about that when she does not have a drop @+2).

I-)

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247

I'm hoping for a better day for both of you. Would it work if you just put a few drops of water in a saucer for her to lap up? She could get the sensation of drinking, but not drink quickly enough to choke. You could refill it as she drinks.

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247,+4~204

Hi Carolyn,

Sorry to hear about last night, hope it was just a fluke! Linda had a good tip, I like that idea.

Hugs to your pretty baby girl, and you too :)

Hi Carolyn
Sorry to hear you and Latte had a rough start to the day.
I hope it improved and that tonight will be relaxing for the 2 of you.
Hope Latte does better in the eating department.

Aw, so sorry that Latte had such a difficult evening, but it's good to hear she is eating better now.

About the water, I wonder if there is such a fountain as what people have for hamsters, where they lick the spout to move the ball back and get the water.
I am thinking of getting a fountain because Booboo hates drinking from a bowl but prefers the faucet. I wonder if a water fountain would slow Latte down some?

We will be thinking of Latte and wishing for a nice evening for both of you.

Re: 3/1 Latte AMPS-247, PMPS-291

I got all excited when I saw Latte's pmps @191 in her subject line. Then I realized that must have been my wishful thinking, going all the way down to my finger tips...mistake corrected and proper pmps reflected in subject line.

Really living on the edge there Latte!
She will go over the edge tonight, since I gave pred with her shot. Ive been delaying it with higher numbers lately to get her down a bit more before the pred takes effect. That apparently backfired on me yesterday when she plummeted down to the blues and then was taken straight back up from the pred. It's just going to be what its going to be...and Im not going to look!

Thanks for the ideas on the water.

Gayle- I got latte a fountain once and she wouldnt even walk past it because it scared her. I would move it to another room or spot and then she would stop walking there. It really put a crimp on her favorite past time of doing laps around our small adobe! I returned it. She has never been a faucet drinker, strangely enough. Ive heard lots of good things about them. If shadoe already likes faucets, you should go for it.

Linda- A few months ago I tried putting some dishes which I let her lick gravy, milk, catsure, etc from on top of her water bowl with some water in it. She is very familiar with these dishes and knows something good is in them if I bring 'em to her. She had no clue what to do. She just stood there and stared at it, then screamed, stared, screamed. I could keep trying it, because it makes a lot of sense. You would think if she is thirsty enough she will drink from it. The height is no different than her bowls.

She drinks out of cottage cheese containers  She used to have a normal bowl, raised. Then I added some more around the apt....the cottage cheese containers...because they were naturally tall. She ignored them and continued to scream at her regular bowl when she drank. I stopped filling them and there they sat. UNTIL...the night I brought her home from the ER last May. I was putting something away and suddenly could not find her. Well, heck, there she was! Head almost literally stuck in the cottage cheese container as she was trying to get the bottom inch of water that had not yet evaporated. haha_smiley I dont know what her attachment is to these silly things. And heaven forbid they get 1/4 inch from the top before I start hearing about it! :?

Seriously, the only time she puts on a drinking show like she did last night is when she is dropping a lot, or high numbers. Add pred and/or cypro into the scenario and its big trouble. Look at that yo-yo she did last night...
pmps-+1...50 pt rise
+1-+2.....115pt drop
+3-+4....80pt rise
+5-+6....80pt drop

Thats just crazy for those swings to happen hourly! :o
That would probably make anyone feel like crap, ya think?
With all the water she drank, Im certain she was not hungry.

So yes, I hope this was a fluke. And I hope she eats well later tonight.

ETA: correction of pmps in body of message...I put 211  Im really dreamin' tonight, arent I?!

:o Now THIS is getting depressing
Somebody make me stop testing her!

Can anyone tell me how to change my ss so I am looking at current dates first? Im getting a tad tired of watching her digression over the last 6 months every time I go to fill it in.
Thanks!

BTW- Covered water bowls with the shallow dishes filled with water, which I mentioned in my last post. She walked away from it. Lets see what happens when she is really thirsty.

ETA: Pred has at least another hr to peak. Maybe I should see if the meter will break with a +3.5/4 reading

Carolyn: No more stressing out about her numbers for tonight. You are over-analyzing something you can not control. You are banned from testing her for the whole rest of the night. You are hereby ordered to give her everything she needs for the night including fluids if she needs them, and lots of scritches even if she doesn't need them, and pay no attention whatsoever to her numbers.

:YMHUG:

one other thought on the water since it was connected to decreased appy:
One of Winnie's "tells" for a p-titis flare was drinking lots of water. She would often then throw it up, but apparently that made her feel betterish.
Have you noticed any link bwt water drinking and latte's CP symptoms? A flare could also explain the high number.

hope you are sound asleep. latte too.
