Well good news, bad news. bad: I was so tired last night i fell asleep before being able to get a pm4 or 5.
Good news is amps this a.m. was 290. the extra .25 units seems to be kicking in already?

bad news: i have to leave for most of the morning, with a slim chance of being able to dash home at approx. +3. Might have time to do so and get a test. Then have to leave again but home by sometime around +5 for the rest of the day.

I'm leaving 3 small meals in the feeder, to kick off every 2 hrs. Since i didn't get a test last night, i have no idea how low he went, but amps was finally below 400 for first time in nearly a week, and first 200 in 3 days.

Yay! Progress is good! that yellow amps is great to see.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Dawn Phenomenon to you . . . that's one reason that the amps is often high. Not always of course, but the normal end of cycle higher numbers can be boosted by these hormones.

well, he continues to confound and confuse. just home for a +6; and its HI. I already knew from level of water drunk and 2 large pees in box it would be bad. He bounces SO hard?? i did leave him 3 meals while i was gone, but just regular food. will I ever get this guy under control??

Yes, you will get him under control. There is a dose that moves every cat - you're just not there yet. But you will get there. He's likely been in high numbers so long that his body has gotten very used to them.

Looking at that HI in the middle of the cycle today, I'm wondering if he got lower last night and bounced from it. That yellow amps might suggest that's what happened, and the fact that he's rising in the cycle today instead of going down mid-cycle also supports the idea.

hope i didn't 'help' the bounce by feeding him? but it seemed the prudent thing to do since i couldn't be here... part of me did expect a bounce, i just hoped it wouldn't be so dramatic. It seems all I'm doing is waiting for bounces to clear...

Your leaving food was indeed prudent - it gives Oren the opportunity, if needed, to 'steer the cycle' by feeding himself.
Feeding can cause a 'food spike' - a rise in BG that is temporary and not at all extreme - but not a bounce.

Like Julie, I too think Oren may have dipped down into lower numbers and what you are seeing today is his bodys defenses attempting to bring things back to what it perceives as the norm.

It wont always be this way. In time the picture will change for the better.

Hang in there and hang in here.

I'm hoping that he gives a nice surf tomorrow, and perhaps this evening, too. Keep up the excellent work. I know it can be frustrating. You're doing the best you can. Hang in there. :bighug:

thanks all, I feel so low right now i can barely stand it. the weather isn't helping, as now we're having an ice storm. the few 'fun' things I've had to look forward too in the last week have been cancelled due to weather. And mostly, I just hate to see him obviously affected by these wild swings. it must be so hard on his little body. just venting, because at least here, others know the drill. sometimes I'm afraid my friends are probably sick of hearing about my 'diabetic cat'. he might as well be my child though. And though I don't quite understand the term yet, I hope many 'vines' will be sent for us to pull ourselves up on!:(

Hi again Megan:cool:

We have the same lovely weather up the road here in Baltimore. . . .(sigh) :arghh:

I've been around long enough to remember the origin of the term "vines" here. It started as a typo when a member was posting that they were sending some type of (positive) Vibes to a kitty/caregiver in need . . .and it just stuck!
(I can't however remember who the person was that made the original typo . . .)

So....Let me be the first to send our strongest vines to not only help pull you up but to help keep you there.

well at least he got back on the meter, in the right direction, but still WAY high. let's see what happens tonight, though not sure how many tests to get. pm+2? hopefully +5?

The +2 is one of my favorite tests because a lot of the time it can be like a crystal ball and give you a good idea what's up for the rest of the cycle

Hopefully he'll work that juice a little harder soon and start to get some better numbers! All you can do is hang in there!

We all understand the frustration you're feeling though.

You're in good company here. We all get it. I'm sure I drove friends nuts because the cat's blood sugar is, in fact, the biggest news in your life at this phase! We love our cats and they are like children.

Bounces can last 3 days. if he takes the full time, which is likely, he might be high til Tuesday night or wednesday morning.

But what goes up will come down.:bighug:

I was lucky I had a colleague at work who was diabetic so at least he understood what the numbers were all about. I'm sure I drove him nuts though

Sending bounce clearing vines for Oren and some to pick you up too
