3/01 1u is lasting longer than 12 hrs

Sorry I couldn't post anything this morning!

Sam started his day at 426, 4.5 hrs into the cycle he tested 260. He is due for his pm shot right now and he is 87.
I don't know if his is reacting because I possibly fur shot him yesterday or what. He just ate now, I will wait a little longer and test him again.
 
Wow! Yes, retest. In the future if you get a low number and need to retest, try to hold off feeding. The food will inflate your next reading-- it is best to- not feed, wait and retest. It is okay....just know that your next number will be higher, simply because of the food spike. So, you need to take that into consideration when you get your next reading.
 
Well, it looks like Carl was right about the dose, or it was a fur shot yesterday.

Regardless, Nadia, an exciting number. A number that low at preshot means the dose is too high. So you should definitely reduce. For tonight however, I will be surprised if he gets up in the 200s where you could shoot without really messing up your schedule. And even if he does, it will be hard to know whether it's the food raising the number or if he is really going up. I think I would skip tonight (unless he suddenly goes really high). Tomorrow you will most likely have a high number because of the 24 hours without insulin. But regardless I would go with a lower dose. If he is 200 or under in the am, don't feed and retest in 20 minutes and ask for advice.

yes it made sense Sue thank you. I actuall tested him abut 30 min ago and he was 403. I gave him 0.9 u right now. I'm scared of giving him 1u and he goes low at night but I didn't think 0.75u was enough. this sugar dance is complicated !!
so do you think 1u is too much? 0.75u wasn't enough, so I wonder if 0.9 would be okay for tomorrow morning?

I didn't give 0.75u this morning because I didn't think it was enough when I tried it for 2 days, he was over 200's and 300's so I gave him 1u this morning.
Now I'm wondering if I should try 0.9u instead.what do you think?
