AMPS +11 264 dinner and snacks must have kicked in

1/2 can of FF watered down - tried to avoid this but he was screaming and his dad needs to sleep!
PMPS +4 293

auto feeder has been set up and will give him a snack at 3am - I was concerned about him dropping since 264 was low but with what he's eaten and the numbers so far I don't think he'll be in any danger even at +6 or 7. I'm going to bed. "Daddy" will be up at 4:30am so he'll check on him than.

Wish I could get it so he wasn't so insistent on food at night - he just gets crazy sometimes.

Robbiesmom: My cats have always been grazers, which is why I always leave them canned food (watered down) overnight, and which is why I love that Pumbaa is on long-lasting Lantus.

Sounds like Robbie is a grazer, too. I'd rather leave them low-carb, high-protein food out overnight than have nothing available to them to eat when they instinctively know that they need to eat to counteract going into hypoglycemia. But don't trust me...I'm very new at this. Listen to what the more experienced FD cat owners have to say.

Hmm, surprised he didn't go lower quicker. Maybe that one lower reading was a fluke like you mentioned?

lol, he's a cat! If you told him "I want you to scream and wake up daddy AND the neighbors", he'd look at you and yawn.

Suze,
Don't sell yourself short. You already know more than 99.9% of the world's population does about feline diabetes.

Carl

Thank you, Carl, but I also still have so much to learn and don't want to lead anyone down a wrong path.

I don't know that I'd call Robbie a grazer - he gobbles his food right down he just wants it all the time! Some times I can just cuddle with him and he forgets about the food or really didn't want it to begin with - but he is used to getting a full can as I go to bed around 11 or 12pm he would eat most of it and than I'm sure chow on it a little later -I can still do that and make it watered down so hopefully it lasts longer and he won't wake me at 3am but what I'm trying to do is give him half of that amount and than get him half a can at 3am too - having some success in that area.
I do think his numbers are better during the day because we aren't home for him to pester for food - We'll figure it out - maybe mommy has to be less of a soft touch!

Mine gobble when I first put the food down, but they always leave some food, and go back to eat it later throughout the day. Back in the days when they got dry food, I always made sure they had some in case they wanted to nibble, which they would.

I think the hardest thing for pet owners is trying to figure out if the animal is getting enough food. I know I would hate to think my cats (or drooler) were going hungry since they rely on me for the food.

Oh Robbie what did you eat for dinner tonight? Cap'n Crunch? Looked like he was having a good day and he took off like a rocket in the two hoirs before PMPS!
Hope things are ok, Ellen,
Carl

I know Carl isn't it odd? I got home at 6pm, tested him right away and there it was 488 - it was dinner time - he was yeowling for his food - fed him his FF low carb - but I'm trying to figure out what could have happened while I was out from 3pm - no cat food anywhere, no dog food - but did his dad leave a plate with something on it that I didn't see? It's possible - but I just don't think so .
Robbie would probably eat any time I put food down - he wouldn't always finish it but I am pretty sure he'd take a few bites - on his current schedule he always finishes except for the meals that have metimucil in them - which is now only a small amount in the morning since we were given info here that has me re-thinking the metimucil - plus he drinks so much water right now the fear of constipation is not as bad - he's very regular when he's in the pinks and yellows -
So today is another day - I would say the 4.00 I shot was "fat" but still a 4.00 - and we'll see how he goes.
Thanks for checking in gang.
