Djoko did not have his normal appetite last night but with some parmesan, managed to eat enough to get his shot. He normally eats couple small meals during the day (supposed to help for cats w/ pancreatitis). He did not eat at +2 and did not want to eat anything, even grounded beef!
He vomited a lot. I felt that he was not well so gave him cerenia but unfortunately 5 min. before he vomited. I called the vet emergency clinic and said it was fine to give him another 1/4 of 16mg which I did. He vomited again. He was not hungry at all and I saw his BG levels do down very quick since he was on an empty stomach and for once he had a decent pre shot number (for his standards).
I was glad to have the libre so did a ear test with AT2 just to make sure the values were close enough. On alpha track 2, the lowet he went to is 4.1 (74 mg/dL) so at least no hypo. I checked his BG all night until 4am. Today he has eaten but cannot eat his normal meal which is chicken paw lickin weruva (what he vomited). He ate beef and FF chicken feast and liver.
I wish we could find something to prevent him from vomitting every 8-12 days.
Petit ange Djoko.

Hi Marj,
I’m sorry Djoko has been vomiting. Has it stopped now?
I see he is bouncing now from the low numbers last night.
Are all the numbers you are entering into the SS now from the libre?
It’s a bit confusing when you are using both the alpha track and the libre meters.

Do you think the vomiting is from pancreatic flares or maybe from some of the food he is eating?
Have you tried a different food?

He has been diagnosed with chronic pancreatits. Test indicated 11.3 fpLI.
He has been on a diet without fish. Only chicken and turkey but has not changed anything, He has vomited more with this diet actually but who knows. Hypoallergenic diets are supposedly high in carbs.
I am a bit lost frankly. I have been trying many things and nothing seems to help him and improve his numbers. He has one good cycle every 4-5 cycles.

Marj I would not do conversion with the numbers if you are using the libre. You would be better marking the numbers as libre or if you are using the libre more than the alpha track to just use that In the SS and put the alphatrack into the remarks column. You need to stick with one meter in the SS to stop confusion
You would need to draw a line across the SS to indicate the change.

How long ago was the fPL 11.3 done? He may need a repeat to see if it is better or worse.
How is his appetite normally? Is he just having a vomit every 8 to 12 days and normal in between?
Is he having anything for pain now? Does he seem in pain?

I could do that. I am super bad with excel but can ask around ;).
The fPL test happened two weeks ago and his creatine and bun levels are higher than normal which I don't like.
His appetite is very good normally. I had trouble 2 months ago but since then, he has been good! I know he will get sick when his appetite is so so.
He does not seem in pain now. Earlier a bit - was doing the meat loaf in the bed which he normally does not do. Igave him 1/2 of gapapentin. He ate beef this morning, a can of 61 calories in the afernoon and 3/4 of a FF can for dinner. I will give him more during the evening. I did buy the feeder so he normally eats at 7h50 (shot at 8), 10, 12, 2h00, 4h3-, 6h00 and betweehn 7 and 8 when meowing. I feed him at 11pm when I see that he is dropping too fast.

He played a bit so I don't think he is in pain.

It the fPL was only 2 weeks ago he is probably still recovering from the bout of pancreatitis. If he is eating OK in between the vomits, I think I would just have some antinausea meds to give him when he vomits. Do you also have ondansetron? That is a good anti nausea medication..
Did you post the lab results of the creatinine and bun and get comments?

Is he getting Cerenia daily now? How much does he weigh? Just wondering about the Cerenia dose.

As Bron said, there is no way to convert from the human meters like the Libre to the AT.

I asked the vet if we could give it to him daily following your question but she has not responded to me (was not in all week, works weird shifts).
I made a conversion because I took blood test from best meters at the same time. I feel pretty confident with my conversion because I have done it at least 10 times with different numbers. The margin is higher in high values versus lower values eg I got 4.4 with the AT2 yesterday while it was 2.7 on the libre. Same blood sample.
But happy to put the libre values ifcan be helpful.

Many people here have tried the conversion. Lots of spreadsheets and testing and still no clear idea how to convert. Pick one type of meter, and stick with it.

Cerenia needs to be given every 24 hours as it wears off. Have you ever tried zofran (ondansetron)? It’s a human drug that for some cats works better than cerenia BUT if cerenia is given every day and works then stick with it. Diet has not been found to effect pancreatitis is most cats. Stress brought it on for Max. It’s also a myth that fat is a cause. It is for dogs but not for cats.

I haven't. I will ask my vet about it. Yesterday, she responded that I could give Djoko cerenia every day but its a question of quality of life. I don't knowif she was referring to side effects of the giving him the pill. Will ask her..
So far, difficult to say if it has worked because he has been on it every other day and vomited two days ago so...will try each day and see if he keeps vomiting. Thanks!
