Thanks Wendy :-D Possibly other examples of OTJ experiences, any tips on maintaining OTJ, and data and statistics on how many kitties who go OTJ manage to spend the rest of their lives OTJ and what causes some cats to have to go back on insulin etc. One thing which concerns me and I could be totally wrong, but it seems that OTJ doesn't necessarily mean a long life thereafter..?

Here is some information on remission in a diabetic cat: http://www.tillydiabetes.net/en_6_protocol2.htm and

You would need to remember that he is always going to be a diabetic. He would just have his diabetes controlled via diet while he is in remission. After the 14 day trial, I would test every day at first for a couple of weeks, and then go testing twice a week, and then once a week, and then a couple times a month. Cats can and do come out of remission, so you want to stay on top of how he is doing, in case he should need to restart a bit of insulin. Some cats go back on insulin for a short time and then go back into remission again.
