Vet visit went well.
Grem has been more mobile the last two days but Kirralee was able to see him walking and his struggles.
I opted to have the Cartrophen injections and he had his first dose today. There are three more, once a week and then goes to monthly. I will be doing these at home so Grem doesn't have to keep going to the vet clinic.
He has gained 80gm which is AMAZING! His total weight is 4.78kg. It's still too skinny for him but he was consistently losing weight, so gaining is HUGE! And very welcome.
His BP was good. Within the normal range during a vet visit. The only time he complained the whole time we were there was when Kirralee had the pulse monitor on his foot. So the half dose is working fine.
His mouth looks good. Apparently the Amlodipine can cause issues in the mouth and it seems halving the dose has helped. Looks like the mouth cancer we were concerned he may have isn't an issue. Yay!
His retinas are still somewhat attached, he has good light response, but his sight is declining. As long as the retinas don't detach, it's not a huge concern, just old age. His depth perception is pretty bad which is apparently most often the first thing to go (probably why he fell off my bed a few weeks ago) and he mostly only sees big, blobby shapes from what I can deduce.
His coat is shiny and healthy, he's in good spirits and overall, in really good health considering his age and ailments!
There's one other medication Kirralee is going to look into for me. It's a pain blocker that can be used with Meloxicam and Cartrophen but is usually just for dogs (that are arthritic and need some extra help). She will look into seeing if it can be compounded and given to cats safely.
I
think that's everything... All in all, a great update!
