Nice blue this AM but I've booked a vet appointment for this afternoon. He's usually a really good eater and has been less interested in food since Saturday morning. He'll eat but not with his usual gusto. My guess at this point is that the increased amount of gravy food I fed him last Thursday and Friday to keep his BG up started some sort of upset that's persisting. Could be pancreatitis or some other GI issue. I've been trying to catch him in the litter box to get a urine sample for a ketone test but no luck. At least he ate this AM so I could give insulin.

:bighug:Checking in, Kris:) Will be keeping you and Teasel in thought and prayer as u go to vet, that the report is good and solution an easy one :) ......glad he ate for you this AM .

Nice start this AM and I will keep good thoughts for the vet visit. Hoping his waning appy is due to being in better numbers lately rather than a P'titis or GI.

Kris have you ever tried honey added to the LC food to steer? There are several peeps here that do that as the gravy starts off a GI attack with their kitties too.

I was thinking that myself, Bobbie. The timing of this episode of being "off" is suspicious wrt coming right after the two days when he got gravy-style food added to his LC. I'd already decided to try honey instead next time. He's not himself so I don't think it's just better BG causing reduced appetite. It's strange, though, he seems to want food, eats and then feels worse afterward.

Poor boy, I hope he starts feeling better ASAP . Keep us posted.

Another day just like Apr 20/17! I gave him a small lunch at +4 with about 1/8 tsp honey in his usual LC food. I'm avoiding gravy style food because I think it's the culprit in his current digestive upset. He ate all his lunch with no problem. I think he's diving again because the recent lows have left him sensitive.

Dose is going down to 2.5 u this evening. I'm choosing to go against the "3 lows before reducing" guideline because my nerves, as steady as they are, need a break.

Hi Kris, I hope that Teasel wil be ok after the vet, this is the most important now. :bighug:

Just posted this for my ProZinc pals as well:

Back from vet. The vet isn't too concerned at this point because Teasel is eating, is well hydrated and so on. No evidence of any belly tenderness, fever, etc. and I haven't seen any UTI/cystitis behaviour here at home. I have a few days of Cerenia to give and a request to do urine ketone checks daily for a couple of days. Just did one - negative. He thinks I could be right about a GI upset from the gravy food. I told him I'd also found very smelly (soft but formed) poop in the litter box yesterday and today and although I can't be 100% certain, I'm fairly sure it was Teasel's. If things don't improve in a day or two then we'll go back for a blood panel, pancreatitis test and urine test/culture.

This was one of two vets I see at my clinic and both are conservative in their approach - ie., don't order up all the $$$ tests right away. My preference ...

TY for posting the update. Hopefully Teasel improves and any serious conditions will rule themselves out in a day or two.:bighug:

Where do you find such vets?!:)

I often read the same in a lot of condos but I never knew why was it a concern?
I'd rather be alarmed if Ducia pooped something Dior...:)

The Cerenia has helped a lot. He was eager for his supper. Nice run of colours today - except for that lime green - but I was too stressed to really appreciate it. His dose is going down to 2.5 u tonight.

I'm glad the check up went well. FWIW, Doodles would get tummy upset from HC and sometimes last for 4-5 days. I mainly used honey but he was a picky boy so did have Natural Balance pouches which are about 22% carbs from potato, not wheat like FF. Doodles also had IBD/ food allergies. Feel better Teasel and keep surfing.
