It’s okay, Juliet. Being tired can do funny things to you, better that you gave a furshot instead of accidentally gave too much insulin or something like that. Silver will get back to business, he’s a good boy! :bighug:

Why do I always do a fur shot when I see a low AMPS. So annoyed. I think I am just not awake enough at 6am when giving the shot to aim straight. Grrrr.

It's some sort of ***s law innit. Maybe Murphy's & completely typical of it to raise its head when you least want or need it.

Ty did a fetching thing this morning which made me immediate think of you and Silver up there in the frozen north. He tipped his head to one side whilst waiting for his breakfast. I couldn't get to the camera/mobile to share with you.

I asked this yesterday but no-one saw my question. Does anyone know why he would be consistently higher at +4? Onset is supposed to have begun by then. It just seems he has so far to come down from onset to nadir if he goes up for the next few hours following his pm shot.

I find that very confusing.

Today's high PMPS very likely due to today's suspected fur shot. Tomorrow is another day.

Add a ? prefix to your title Juliet & adjust the title to add a brief question perhaps. I think this helps those cruising around all condos

I know - I do that often....but it does not get a response so I stopped bothering. That's okay. I hope when it really matters, someone will chime in. This is just a curiosity question.

You are forgetting the answer to most inexplicable questions. The +4 is higher because Silver is a cat.

More accurately, onset and nadir are only typical for your cat. Saying that onset is at +2 is a general statement. It can vary from cat to cat and it may vary for your cat. Gabby's onset and nadir were typically very early -- her nadir was usually at around +3 (except when it wasn't). That meant her onset could be at +1. The reason that we push for everyone to test and to not always test at the same time is to make sure you have a pretty clear idea of when your cat's onset and nadir occur.

One thing to keep in mind is how much of a difference are you considering a difference? there is +/- 20% variance for an test due to the meter. So what seems to be a big difference may not really be a big difference once you consider meter variance. Also, I'm not seeing much of a difference between your PMPS and +4. The difference is more apparent during the AM cycle.

Ok. Thanks. I’ll take another look at the ss. The evening +4 is usually a bedtime test as I was advised to get one. I was wondering why it always seems to be higher. Unfortunately I get very few daytime tests except for the weekend curves. Your first sentence made me laugh. Because he is a cat. lol. True.

Not got my head wrapped around meter variance yet. Trying hard not to focus on the fact that the new meter is vastly different and readings much lower are actually the same if I was still using the accucheck.

I've been watching your threads because I'm fighting the same fight. Hamilton's +2 used to be the same as preshot before we lost regulation, but now even his +3 remains high. A veterinarian (not Hamilton's, but someone I know personally) suggested blood flow as a culprit. She said that exercise was the best way to test the theory; and sure enough, the days we were able to take him on a walk in the backyard (or put him on the treadmill - he might kill me in my sleep) his numbers showed progress. Yesterday, we weren't able to take him out (of course, one of our senior dogs got sick...everywhere) and he threw the worst numbers we've seen in days. Just a thought!

Interesting!

My baby is 12 and has never been outside. I think he would have a fit if I put a leash on him and took him out but it’s a great suggestion.

I completely understand. Our Hamilton is 15yo and he's only been on our screened in pool cage. However, we now have a fenced in 1 acre yard, so we can let him walk without a leash. We have to stay close by because the other day he was feeling frisky and tried to climb a darn fence post!
