vet rang last night and all is well. :-D
he seems to think hes been born with a larger spleen than norm. it hasn't gone any smaller or larger or changed shape since the last time he was shaved bald  also he says it looks healthy, as does all his other organs. my vets is now positive he has tested, scanned, and xrayed ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING over the past 10 months and is confident there is nothing wrong with my boy except FD!! in fact he said hes a very healthy cat its just a case of finding the right insulin to regulate him.he obviously is a cat who is very affected by how his BG makes him feel. im just glad ive got the knowledge now from you guys to hopefully get him regulated!!!

thankyou for the advice on levermir as we will be starting that next week. so if i start his dose at 4 and see where we go from there.
also REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION.................. do i use the same needles as i do for lantus or do i need different ones. if so what?

oh and how to i post a pic of my baldy boy. i like the sound of this 'shaved belly club' its becoming the norm in our house ;-) i think my boy just likes getting naked

Levemir uses the same syringes/needles as Lantus.

Great news on the test results - you must be sooooooo happy! I'm thrilled and he's not even mine!

I agree about starting with the 4u. Usually, just like Lantus you want to give enough time for the dose to settle and the depot to "fill" to match the Lev dose, but if you get flat high, holler at us and maybe he should be increased sooner. Just depends.

Fingers crossed that he takes to the Lev like Cobb has. cat_pet_icon

Oh - and it's really helpful if you put a large horizontal line or marker across the ss and note that now you're using Lev below.

dancing_cat Yay for good results! dancing_cat

I'm going to get a shaved belly picture up too.....I used to use photobucket but something is different on their site.....
you might try it and see if it works for you.... it's free.

Great news! I'll be cheering Bailey on with the lev switch. I hope it works as well for Bailey as for Cobb.

What a great vet report, Anna! I'm so happy to hear it. Like the others, my fingers are crossed that the Lev will help bring Bailey's numbers down.

When I add a pic to my post, I use the "upload attachment" feature. Once I select the pic to upload, I then click on the option to place "inline." The pictures have to be below a certain size, so you might have to resize your picture to make it smaller. Then I hit the preview button to make sure my picture displays properly before I hit the submit button. (There have been many times when I thought I did everything correctly only to see some crazy results when I previewed it. ohmygod_smile )

Thanks for keeping us updated on Bailey!
Shelly

Awesome news! Way to go Bailey!!

I hope the switch to Lev goes as well for you as it did for us. Don't be surprised if you see higher numbers as the Lantus depot drains and the Lev depot builds up.

We are cheering you on from over here!!

thanks for all your support and guidance! i couldn't do it without you!!

im just relieved knowing hes ok. lets see what levemir brings. i hope it works for him!!

im going to get the script Friday,so hoping to start next Monday as im off after 12 then not back in work until Wednesday!
