Hi everyone, I’m so disheartened my Bailie has neuropathy in all four legs and can hardly walk ,he is almost on his 5th month in his journey and still not regulated .Does anyone have any positive stories to share about their cat’s neuropathy ? I really need to hear some positivity. Just when I think he has been doing ok bang he gets high numbers again .:(

It is indeed heart-breaking to see the neuropathy. Bandit was so nimble before the neuropathy that were devastated to see that she was barely moving. It took a long time for her neuropathy to resolve. Almost 9 months I think.

Have you had Bailie's teeth and thyroid checked? Issues there can make it difficult to regulate BG. have you thought about Solensia for his arthritis? Pain/inflammation can also affect BG. Are you seeing any change with the Cartrophen? It didn't make any difference for both my kitties.

What food does he eat? Dr. Elsey's kibble?

He was on Solensia for over a year. Then I found a group on Facebook called Solensia killed my cat, and it scared the living daylights out of me. I’m afraid to give him another shot. But he is just not walking at all. Just sleeping all the time laying around.he is on the doctor Elseys dry and some Almo Naturals wet but mainly just licks the broth . The cartrophin isn’t doing much . He had a dental February 6th . He’s thyroid is good . From the looks of his numbers do you think it’s a bounce ?

Yes, this happened with Bandit in the first few months of diagnosis till the neuropathy resolved. She was lying on the bed all the time and not moving around.

Is the Almo Naturals food low carb? Do you think you can take him off the Dr. Elsey's kibble and switch him to an all-wet diet? Even low carb dry food has been found to affect the BG of some cats.

Today is the 8th cycle since that streak of green on 3/19 - enough time for him to have cleared any bounce. See how he does today and if his numbers don't improve. you might have to go up in dose tomorrow.

Well there is no way he will just eat the wet food believe me I’ve tried everything and am still buying wet food because I always offer it to him at every meal . I just got Young Again Dry food so I am currently in the process of switching him to that .the Almo Naturals is not a complete diet and the ones that are complete have too much tapioca starch in them .

I get it. I was never able to transition Bandit from kibble to wet no matter how hard I tried! After a couple of years she even flatly refused to eat low carb kibble!

Is the one you give him low carb? Any chance it isn't and is spiking his sugar?

It’s definitely low carb it contains fish or chicken and water for processing. However I do give him Churu to get his supplements in him and that has tapioca starch but he’s been getting that forever

Yes because in the diabetic treats they r listed . Do you think He still can be regulated I mean it’s not out of the ordinary that it’s taking so long right ?
