felt I would post as I know you guys understand. Bails has got yet another vet visit tomorrow to check his enlarged spleen and have a camera to see what else is going on.

i know it has to be done but I hate him being starving from 1am onwards, I hate the fight we have me getting him into the crush cage b4 he goes, i hate him crying all the way there then weeing with distress either in my car or from the walk to my car into the vets,i hate leaving him in the outside world(that he hates and he's not used to) with people he doesn't know, but i love....................seeing that little face when i collect him, being brought through those vets doors and his whole face and body relax when he sees me,knowing hes going home!!! lets just hope this sheds some light on what the hell is going on and why his spleen is enlarged.

also tomorrow im going to request a switch a levermir. weve tried .....................and failed on lantus so weve got nothing to lose!!

bring on 24 hours and itll all be over and he'll be back where he belongs ...........with his mamabean! nailbite_smile

Feel free to show them Cobb's spreadsheet and how he immediately took to the Levemir. It might help them to see it works in cats!! Good luck Anna!

aw.... poor bailey....

I empathize. I just did that with mine last week. Although my vet is nice enough that I go where she goes.... except surgery.
I went in for that once too and it was too much for me.

We had an ultrasound.... pylorus, small intestine and spleen issues. Trying to decide what to do.

I hope you get the information to help Bailey feel better.
Hold strong.
Got any wood you could split while waiting..... nailbite_smile ohmygod_smile It does make the time go faster.

Prayers for Bailey.

thanks you guys! it helps knowing people understand! my vets AMAZEBALLS but it doesn't stop me worrying. i don't care what hes says to me about insulin im going for levermir. Suzanne ive looked at cobbs spreadsheet, ive never seen anything like it! what a huge turn around!! you must be sooooo happy! lets hope were sharing the same happy stories soon!!

my vets learnt a lot from us (i don't mean this in a big headed way at all)and hes even rang me for advice before now on lantus, and has asked me for info from this forum for him to read on his holidays!!!!so although he admits hes not 100% on lantus insulin (which i admire) he is so willing to learn but hes so knowledgable on EVERYTHING else!so i trust him. it doesn't make it any easier sending my terrified boy to him! il just be glad when hes home.xxx

hi Anna
wow do i know how you feel. i have several kittys that are just like yours when they go to the vet but i keep telling myself that i have to do it to help them. there is no other way to get them better. be comforted in knowing that cats are so here and now that as soon as he comes home, he will forget his whole vet trip as soon has he is back with you.
Even though they protest, they know you love them and are trying to help. i will be hoping that times goes fast for you and he is back in your arms soon. take care.

Hi Anna,

Your vet sounds wonderful and I know that probably means that the staff will just treat Bailey like a king! He will miss you but have lots of skritches and love, no doubt, in the meantime and we're sending wishes for them to find the medical issue that Bailey has and having a cure for i.

You are a great Mamabean for caring for him so much; and it's obvious that you're his world.

Hugs and headrubs,

Georgette and Clare

you certainly aren't crazy. you are totally normal here. they are our children. i completely understand and feel exactly as you do. i hope you can get some sleep. please let us know how it goes at vet tomorrow.
hugs to you and bailey :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Hi Anna - sending you tons of good luck on that vet visit. I hope they find some answers for you. Have you tried Feliway spray in his carrier or giving him a couple of drops of Rescue Remedy for Pets on his breakfast before he goes? Those work to calm down some anxious kitties.

Good luck with the Levemir switch. We switched about a year ago and I've gotten flatter cycles too. Not all kitties go flatter on Levemir, but it seems most people are happy with the results.

ive got my boy home. hes shaved ALL underneath but i don't care id love him even if he was completely bald!!! the vet is ringing with the results of the scan and the next plan i.e levermir, later today!
thankyou all for your kind words and the moral support! it all helps!!
i use feliway but it doesn't seem to help :-(

Anna - when you switch to Levemir, start with 70% of your current Lantus dose. Some kitties need less Levemir than they do Lantus (such as Suzanne/Cobb). At your current dose, 70% would work out to about 4U. If you find it's not enough, you can always increase fairly quickly (every 6 cycles). If he's really flat and high, post here and ask if it's appropriate to increase sooner.

Give the boy some kisses from me, he was a good boy today. cat_pet_icon Let us know what the vet says about the results.

Hi Anna. I know exactly what you're going thru with the vet stress. One of mine, Shnookie, got so stressed out at the vet he used to scratch everyone and poop all over everything. Now I give him Acepromazine before he goes in, and it's so much better for him. I wonder if you could get something like that for poor Bailey? Ask your vet.

I feel your pain about vet visits as well. Tiffany used to pee when I would catch her to put her in her carrier so I finally got wise and didn't put on my pants until after she was in her cage so I could wash off. Max gets a pancreatitis attack much of the time after a vet visit if he wasn't already starting to get one before he went in. Good luck and I hope nothing serious is found with the tests.
