Karre's 20th July Condo

Thank you for the well wishes! I'm feeling a little better. Hopefully with the weekend to rest, I'll be back on my feet by Monday. In the meantime, it's Karre's BGs that are occupying us, and not in the best way. Although yesterday's AM-cycle was a clearl inverted curve (which in Karre has meant the need for a dose reduction: Karre's Reduction History Condo), in this mornings AM-cycle, he's gone into the blues at (+3), which is typically where his nadir is, meaning that's when he should be at the lowest point... It's too early to decide quite yet, I think, but: If he shows us more blue BGs this cycle, I'm inclined to read that as a sign that he's asking for an increas to 0.5u rather than a decrease... Numbers creeping up - that's what we've always looked for to see if a dosewrinkle isn't holding...

Any thoughts?

20th July AMPS 4.8/86 --- Shot 0.25u --- Perfect AMPS again...
(+6) 5.8/104 --- Peak of inverted curve this cycle. Couldn't be clearer. (Some of his 2008 curve graphs are literally *just* like this shape.)
(+10) 5.2/94
(+11) 5.3/95
PMPS 5.0/90 --- Shot 0.25u --- Showing the standard little dip for the pre-shot.
(+2) 4.6/83
21st July AMPS 4.9/88 --- Shot 0.25u
(+2.75) 6.4/115
(+3) 6.2/112 --- Blue, albeit a dropping blue, at Karre's normal nadir... Not so great. Maybe Mr. P will come to the rescue?

Bit of a puzzle still. I guess we'd get bored otherwise and our Emperor is just trying to provide some entertainment :smile: That (+2.75)/(+3) blue is a little odd. He's been sleeping peacefully - so it can't have been stress. He hasn't eaten anything except a small LC breakfast - so it can't be a food-spike. It *could* have been an accidental skinny shot last night, hubby says. It *could* be the Lantus vial being at the end of its lifespan (and we're going to try to get a new one today). It very well *could* be Karre just being a cat :mrgreen:

Could it be that Karre's nadir has changed a little bit too, or does his nadir stay constant? I know J.D.'s will move around,
because he's a cat. Usually J.D.'s is around +8.5 as an average. I guess with a better regulated cat like Karre, they're more predictable. Good luck with the dosecrease, whatever you decide to do ;-)

Hi Dyana! It's early afternoon here, yes, coming up on 1pm :smile:

Good thought on a possible travelling nadir. Karre has shown a tiny bit of that in the past, not by more than about an hour normally though. He's pretty steady at keeping his nadir around (+3). Also, seeing him come down afterwards makes me think we are indeed heading for another inverted curve...

If this dose ends up an inverted-curve cycle, here's what I'm thinking: Yesterday's inverted curve was Karre's "standard version" thereof (peaking around +6). Assuming that his showing us inversions in quick succession still means what it did in 2008, i.e. too much insulin and readiness for a reduction, what happened today so far could be:

- 5th day on current dose, shed has re-filled.
- Early onset kicks in around (+1), and pushes Karre too far down for his liver to keep calm.
- Liver kicks in and pushes his BG up by his regular nadir (peak of inversion has happened, if cycle continues green from now on).
- Pancreas reacts and brings BG back down and creats a slow drop&surf in the greens.

I've linked Karre's reduction hisory condo in our first post in today's thread, too. We'll watch the cycle. We don't really like to reduce on a PM cycle, so if this cycle shows another inversion, we'd consider shaving the dose for tomorrow's AM shot.

Nice pictures, as always, Jane. I especially like the butterfly looking at that flower. But, the kitty pictures are all sweet and relaxing looking too. I should so, go btb... and nap like them :-| but I guess it's too late, now.

Gabby is an early nadir kitty, as well. Her nadir can move around a bit -- if for no other reason than to keep me on my toes. I'd just keep an eye on things and keep in mind that although blue, those are still normal range BG numbers.

I love the photos!

I think you were right, Sienne - let's give him a little while longer to see what he does with this dose. Today's cycle just isn't clear enough for me, not even in relation to the past few days, to base a decision on. We're going ahead with the 0.25u for tonight, barring strong well-founded objection of course :smile: Wouldn't want to risk a wet noodle, after all!

The PM-cycle is setting up to be green, green, green. Our Emperor is, I'm sure, doing this on purpose, just to confuse us... Well, we stuck by the 0.25u dose, and I think we will for tomorrow, too. Let's give him another day and see what he does with it. If he's still being cryptic, well, we'll try to decrypt. If not, we'll react with a dosewrinkle I suppose - either way. Ah, the fascinating mysteries of sugarcats...

You're both doing great, and I'm glad that you're feeling better, too! Thank you for stopping by our condo this morning. :-D I have pictures of my other furbabies, but haven't posted a link to them here. There's too many to post (9 in total is too many... 9 in many different poses, that is). :lol:
