Good to hear that cyclone gita was less fearsome than was forecast for your area. Sorry you’ve been feeling blue today. You’ve had a lot on your plate, and the storms that have had an impact on the vets, communication, and lab test results add to the load. Deep breaths, M. All will work out.
Hope your vet can help ascertain whether the recent observations (saucer eyed, resisting doses, etc) if tamgesic (bupe being opioid and the active ingredient) and/ or its dosage is causing the issues. Over the years, a few of my cats have been on bupe post-op (dental surgeries and eye surgery) I associated the saucer-eyed effect to the bupe, bc once the anesthesia and post-op pain meds cleared and I could reduce the dosage amount and to as needed, the wobbles and eye dilation returned to normal. Though eye dilation or constriction can be symptoms of pain, I have only seen the dilation / saucer eyed response with pain meds and in post-op situations.
Idk if you are amenable to alternative remedies but I found that giving certain homeopathics that target pain to be helpful, particularly so for Azalea after her surgeries including eye removal surgery.
Some years ago and in her youth, Azalea had a nasty corneal tear (the other eye); vet stitched closed the inner eye lids so that it could heal. If I’m remembering correctly, I had to apply some kind of drops to help keep the site clean and lubricated. Is it possible that in addition to post op pain, that the site is feeling dry and irritated? I think you mentioned that vet gave you drops to apply after stitches removed. Maybe an inquiry to vet re if appropriate and if so, other kind of drops to apply before stitches removed? If that is doable, it might help and reduce or eliminate the need for opioids.
Idk about the return of puddle poo, albeit semi-puddle poo. Did Ty get tired of/ go off the rice water addition to food? If I’m remembering correctly, it helped recently. Hope the lab results come back soon.
Hope tomorrow will be a better day for you both
