We tried today to make him bounce less at PMPS with honey in the AM cycle, with the conclusion: not the way to go ahead

You don’t want to do thisThat’s not how we flatten the curve.
The best way to flatten the curve is manage it with food. Please take a look at this condo and post 15 where Jill explains how to flatten the curve with food.
You can put any questions you have on the condo you create for 4/21. We will be back later this evening (we are working a COVID vaccine POD during the days) and I’ll be happy to respond.
Have a great day!!
It looks to me like he really likes to drop around +2 when he onsets. One big clue he gives you when you test at +1 is if he doesn’t get a food spike (because he should). More often than not, he drops at +1 and then a lot more at +2. The goal is to feed a little higher low carb food at, for him, PS, +1, and +2 to try and soften those drops when he onsets.Thank you Marje for your answer, as you can see by the PMPS we learned it the hard way. I read the condo you cited several times before and i thought i understood itbut if i have to filter it thru today's experience do i understand correctly that the only thing we have to do now is make sure we keep him above 50 for as long as (reasonably) possible and he will flatten the curve by himself? Theoretically in this case by testing the beginning of the cycle more frequently (for Chico its the first 2 hours) and feeding his low numbers to stop the dips under 50, he should (at least in theory) be able to flatten it with time?

If you can manipulate the curve early on, he should just flatten later in the cycle. That’s the hope. If keeping him from dropping earlier in the cycle causes the entire cycle to come up a bit, then we can see if a little extra insulin can be safely given.

You’re welcome! We’ve only got another month at the POD and then it will be too hot outside.thank you Marje for your answer. We only feed Chico with raw and for higher carb we use honey because of his sensitive tummy.
We are feeding 1/4 of his daily food at preshots and a couple of weeks ago we introduced 10g of food at +1 but it just doesn’t stop him at all.
We made an experiment yesterday to add honey at +1 and then at +1.5 to stop the drop, this caused him to go higher. Do you think that we should continue doing that?
thank you again for you advice, i understand you are very busy lately, we appreciate a lot the time you are taking to help us![]()

I don’t see any issues at all with your experiment yesterday. His body can’t tell the difference between 52 and 77, for example. Sienne had to do the same thing with her Gabby because she was sensitive to gluten in gravies.
You can try spreading the food out a little more to give three portions split at PS, +1, +2 or play with the amount of honey. It’s going to take experimentation but, honestly, I don’t think your experiment yesterday was unsuccessful. He still stayed green and there is nothing wrong with BGs in the 70s/80s.
