Good morning,

I stupidly ran out of LC food last night so the cats got some chicken thigh to chew on. This morning we made an early trip to the supermarket but, as it doesn't open till 7.30 am, the cats ate 2 hours later than normal. You should have seen their anxious faces when we both left the house, 1.5 hrs after they normally eat, without feeding them! Poor kitties! Alls well that ends well though...

Could Angie's ambg have been lower if I had taken it on time? Could her liver have been producing glucose to lift it up again? Does this happen in diabetes? The doctor was talking to me a lot about it yesterday (about my situation though, which is different). I didn't want to wake her up with nothing to feed her afterwards.

It's been lovely to see so much green on the board. Lovely, safe curve vines to all the kitties and asthma healing vines to little Kismet.

Oh, and the other thing the doctor talked to me about - she wants me to start home blood glucose monitoring and eating small meals though out the day. :) I had to laugh! She was quite pleased that I had already been taught how and why to do this.

Sorry I don't have advice, just wanted to say happy day 12:) Such a sweet way to put it, the anxious faces waiting for food, I can just see it :lol:

The liver doesn't produce glucose -- it stores glucagon (i.e., a stored form of glucose) -- which it releases

First, that's not a high AMBG. It may have been lower but there's no way to know. Angie is still in normal range even with the late meal.

Thanks Sienne, I knew that normal was under 120 but was wondering if the liver is able to raise blood glucose in diabetics too. It sound's like it works the same way for Angie as it does for me - but I just misunderstood the way it happens.
