It’s time to start thinking about doing a 2023 SS for your kitty. We ask that a new SS tab be started each year otherwise the SS can get very, very long and take a long time to scroll to the bottom. It’s very helpful for advice givers to be able to get to your data quickly.

US Spreadsheet (human or pet meter)
Below are the instructions for how to create a new tab for the 2023 US SS (human or pet meter). If you have any issues, please contact me via PM:

1. Open the SS from within Google Drive.
2. At the bottom, you’ll see a tab entitled “Template”. Left click on the dropdown arrow next to it and select “duplicate”. It will make a new SS with the tab entitled “Copy of Template”.
3. Left click on the dropdown arrow on the new tab, select “Rename”, and type in 2023.
4. To auto fill the dates for the year, type 01/01/2023 in the date column, click on it and a blue square will appear in the right bottom corner. Click the blue square, a black + will pop up; drag it all the way down that column.
4. On January 1, 2023, left click on the new 2023 tab (not the arrow), and drag it all the way to the left so it is in first position (which means that will be the SS that opens when someone access it from within FDMB.

If you have been around a while and your SS does not have a “Template” tab, please PM me (it’s probably time you upgraded to the new SS which has a “Template” tab and then we can link the old SS; I’m happy to do this for you, if you like). If you are converting or have converted from a pet meter to a human meter and need a different template, please PM me.

If you are using a US SS, please attempt to make the new tab yourself following the above instructions before you PM me for help but please do send me a PM if you have any problems.

World Spreadsheet (human or pet meter)
If you are using either World SS (human or pet meter), please contact me via PM ASAP and I’ll do it for you as it’s faster for me to do it than it is to put the detailed directions here (and they are long and detailed). I will do these in groups so please be patient. They will all be done prior to Jan 1, 2023.

In addition, if you have a World SS which has tabs for a World and US template, absolutely please PM me as the templates have a glitch in them and I’ll need to fix it for you or we can’t add new tabs.

I am more than happy to add templates, do new SSs, etc. for anyone at all but please ask ASAP so I don’t have 100 requests on New Year’s Eve.

Seasons’ Greetings

For some reason my spreadsheet won't let me put the 12/31/2022 on his spreadsheet. Any thoughts?

45 years ago I had a diabetic girlfriend whose clunky meter had an AC adapter and needed to warm up before using. I used to sneak TAB into the theatre for her (she thought that was romantic) and there were definitely no diabetic meals at Safeway. Her sister died before she was 40 from diabetic related issues.
Nigel was our first diabetic before smart phones were a thing and at first our vet called us on a land line twice a day for weeks giving dosing advice. I used to do my spreadsheets in Excel, print a copy and then drive to my vet. Now all that is literally in your hand, sharing it requires the push of a button and there's no more waiting in a hard plastic chair for your appointment.
What was a technological marvel is now commonplace and sometimes even a lifesaver, use it for your own sanity and turn your cat's previously fatal condition into a mere inconvenience.
