my 13 year old was diagnosed 2 weeks ago. It has been a challenge but I am giving insulin and moved both my cats to an all canned food diet. My new challenge is finding a “cat sitter” that can cover for me when I travel for business. S9 far I have not had any luck. Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation? I live in Greenwich CT

Any advice appreciated

Hi and welcome Hannah. We would like to know more about your kitty and the process you have been through in the last two weeks. Since you are giving insulin and changing the diet, are you also home testing to be sure that it's safe to give the insulin injections? Humans test themselves to be certain that it is safe to inject and we recommend the same protections for our sugar cats. Testing the blood sugar at times other than injection times also lets you see how the insulin is working for kitty, as well as help prevent a hypo event. If you are changing the diet, and the food is low carb, that can significantly lower the blood sugar and may reduce the insulin dosage needed. Testing allows you to see the difference and keep kitty safe. Here is a link you might find interesting since you are new to feline diabetes. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/feline-diabetes-faq-newcomers-start-here.2502/
I'm sorry I don't have any recommendations for a sitter, I live on the other side of the country.
I suggest you post in the Main Health forum about your search for a sitter, and please tell us more about your cat. We can help you learn more about how to manage the diabetes treatment going forward.

Welcome! Your question would get more attention on the main health forum. I don't have any advice for you, unfortunately. I stopped all travel when Mia was diagnosed. She is such a sensitive mama's baby scaredy cat. My sister used to check on my girls when I traveled, but she never even got to pet Mia, so I cannot imagine anyone trying to handle her glucose testing and insulin shots.
