@Bobbie And Bubba , I remember seeing in your SS at one point that you were trying out just an AM and PM feed. When I was home, I could get Girlie to eat small meals during the day because I'd take them out to her, but now that I'm at work, I find that if she doesn't get the food when she wants it, then she just ignores the food bowl for the rest of the day. Did you find a difference with small meals during the day vs. an AM and PM meal on Bubba's numbers? Just curious...

Once Bubba started to reduce in numbers on the insulin, I had to go to more smaller meals just to keep him safe as he came racing down the dosing ladder. And, the thought is that it is easier on the pancreas of the FD kitties to eat smaller more frequent meals.

Can you get a auto feeder in Australia? I remember @Gill & George speaking of one she got ( she's in Spain) that she taped her voice into the feeder. How fun is that? You could tape something like "Oh Girlie, it's time to eat!" Maybe that would lure her to the bowl.

Yes, I've got one, but she's not very food motivated. Once she's hanging out on the verandah, sleeping in the sun, she pretty much stays there. And if she sees that the bowl is empty, then she'll just assume it's going to stay that way. Her arthritis makes her less likely to move, and she no longer comes running for food noises or cues - verbal or otherwise! That's why I've let her just eat what she wants in the AM and PM so I can get enough food into her; otherwise, after a few hours, she's just not interested in food.

I just try to use the automatic feeder as a cut off, so that she no longer has access to food after a certain time in the evening.
