We're working on it. It's noon on the east coast and 9am on the west coast of N. America. I can definitely do it on Saturday or Sunday with you, during the week is a little tougher. Marje could stay with you on Wednesday morning but might have some gaps during a vet appt. So . . .

In the meantime, you've got 4 shots at 18.5u, I'd go up to 20.0u with the next shot, suki. No sign of her blood sugar relenting yet, is there?!

There's a yellow today; haven't had 1 in 9 days.

Edited to add: that looks like some progress pulling the numbers down, at least a little.

True, but with a known-acro kitty, possible iaa as well, when we're fast-tracking, one high yellow isn't enough to stop the dose increases. I'm not sure if that's what your point is, but that's what i'm thinking you mean. Is that what you're thinking? Or maybe you're just celebrating some progress . . . With high dose kitties you sometimes have to be aggressive with the dosing like this.

Fortunately, Suki, you're awesome at testing so we have a clear picture of what's going on with Crystal.

I'm definitely celebrating that yellow in there today! And hoping to see a lot more of those soon. Good luck with the increase.

Good morning Julie, BJ, Wendy and Peg,
Well I did nearly fall off my perch yesterday with that yellow test, completely out of the blue but very welcome, shame she didn't keep it up though but at least there is some movement in the numbers, not just flat. Did the 1.5 increase this morning, now at 20u.

Julie, Sunday would work for me if that's okay for you and you don't mind not having a relaxing lie in.

Not sure if you all saw Sandy and Dyana's comments right at the end of my previous post (sorry can't work out how to quote them, too early for the brain to be functioning) but they both thought a dose of 0.25 for the R instead of 0.1 might be a good idea but no one else commented. What do you all think?

Because of how high he already is, I think 0.25 will be safe to give ... and easier to measure!
(Ms Myopia, here!)

Yes I saw it and I agree.

Looks like Sunday we've got a date. Wednesday was a possibility but we can't be sure about it so let's go with Sunday.

Just wanted to say - good luck. keeping all the paws and fingers here crossed for you to see some better action:):D

Vyktors mum, thanks for you good wishes, not off to a brilliant start this morning with Crystal's numbers, got a red in just for good measure at +3, oh well lets hope the increase has some effect.

BJ and Julie, thanks for confirming the dose at 0.25, my eyes will certainly appreciate the higher figure, especially as today I woke up with a very bloodshot eye, think it's a bit of eyestrain due to reading too many posts here late at night!

Julie, we're on for Sunday then, it's in the diary in bold letters! It's really very kind of you to give up your free time at the weekend to monitor us, I know we will be in safe hands. I'll post on the day something like "ready to go on R" about 15 minutes before we start ... I so much want this to work for Crystal.

Hi there

Now (rather than when you are in the thick of it) is a good time to think about how you want to document the addition of R shots/data on the ss.
I'll share the method I used.

When giving R at PS along with L, I simply placed it in the same cell (as below)
documenting R shots on ss.jpg

When I gave R any other time, I placed the dosing info in the corresponding "plus" hour cell as below.
documenting mid cycle R shots on ss.jpg

While the "plus" hours for both insulins are the same when R is given along with L at PS time (first example).
In the second example I gave an additional shot of R at +6 . So three hours later although it was L+9 it was also R+3.
Some folks find it easier to track R separately in an additional line inserted under the daily line.
Either of these methods are good.

While it may seem simpler to put it in the remarks column, IMHO placing the data in the cells makes for quicker evaluation of the numbers and makes it easier for those willing to help to do so at times when you need quick answers. ;)

I really think it's essential to have it in the cell that you give it rather than only in the remarks. Some people color-code the R dosage in a different color.

We have a date for Sunday. :)

Thanks Sandy for your very good tip, I hadn't thought that far ahead yet but will certainly record the R that way for the sake of clarity. A different colour is a good idea as well Julie, thanks. Still practicing getting the dose right in the syringe, how on earth do you guys manage these tiny doses, I need a stronger magnifying glass I think!
See you on Sunday Julie.

I'm a quilter, suki, and happen to know that you can stack reading glasses on your nose. Looks ridiculous but is pretty amazing. Try that. I stopped teasing my friend for how silly she looked once I tried it.

It can help to have a white paper behind the syringe too.

I already have varifocals, looks like I will need Mr. Mago glasses at this rate! I'll give the white paper a go as well as using coloured water. Actually you've just reminded me by saying you do quilting that I've got one of those craft magnifying things you wear round you neck somewhere that I used for cross-stiching, I'll go and have a search for it.
