2/8Oliver 56@+4,73@4.5,78@5.5,98@6.5,519 @9.25, PMPS HI, HI @+2

Hey gang. Ollie just gave us a beautiful number, but I guess I gotta watch now, to make sure he doesn’t go too low. +2.5 is when he had his hypo, but he was on way too much insulin at that time, I think (3U)

I’m sorry! All of you. I updated the spreadsheet. After Ollie had a low+ 2 we gave him some hc FF with gravy which he LOVED. Then, after the+4 even lower so more FF with gravy. He is active and very piggy when it came to his gravy food. I will check him again soon. Sorry for going dark, I let my phone battery die.

I was having kittens!.
Glad you are both OK.

I felt bad for not warning you this could happen. He must've been getting more crunchies than he was letting on to.
It is not your fault!! I should not have stayed away from the phone when this started happening. As suggested, I will check him again in 30 minutes. And, you’re probably right, he was probably eating those crunchies when we weren’t looking. Sneaky Oliver.

After this cycle and once we are sure Oliver is heading back up, you will want to try and get one that is 20ish%. That way you’ll have a true HC for your kit.

That’s a good food bump :D

ok, so the goal is to try and surf him in these nice safe greens for as long as we can. The safe greens are healing numbers :bighug:

You could fed a tsp of LC and test in an hour. (Sorry Oliver :p)

Thats great! Nice surf! :D

You could give another tsp of LC and test in another hour.

Any questions on anything?
No, I’m good and I think he Oliver is too. Relieved that we were able to get him going the right direction as I don’t want to ever have him go through such a severe hypo as he did before. That scared me to death!! I will check him again in a half hour. He’s downstairs in the tv room with hubs enjoying the fireplace. :)

I did feed at +2, some hc gravy food, because he looked so low, that helped, but gave more after next test as well. Thank you!!!
You'll get the hang of this in no time :bighug: with that big drop, its great you fed but IMHO it would have been good to test at +2.5 to be conservative (that was a really big drop ) - that would have shown you the impact of his snack at +2 and give you a clue if you need to feed or monitor more. Glad you were able to get Oliver to surf safely :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Good job! Still green!

A spot check at +9 or +10 would be a nice data point if you are able?

Have a great afternoon! If you need help at PM time, just post and ask :)

Now Oliver is up to 519. Troublemaker. I will test at 7:30 Pacific time. And need some advice at that time. I really do not want to have an emergency in the middle of the night. Do you think it soared because of the gravy food we gave him? He hasn’t had any since about +4.5

Oliver is definitely bouncing due to that streak of green he saw today. As long as the gravy or higher carbs was before nadir, it wouldn't be the main contributor to higher numbers now.

How sure are you now that Oliver will no longer get dry food? As you have seen, it can make a huge difference. We've seen many cats need greatly reduced doses when the dry food (and it's higher carbs) is out of the picture. Which brand/type was he getting that is his sisters? Another option is finding something lower carb and dry for her in case he steals some. Having dry food in the picture also impacts which dosing method you follow and whether today earned a reduction down to 0.75 units.

If Oliver stole food this morning it was this;

The importance of what Wendy asked is if he has any chance to get into dry, then you’ll have to use SLGS as the method of regulation and so he earned a reduction today to 0.75u; the reduction point for SLGS is a drop below 90.

If he now has absolutely no access to dry food and is only getting canned or raw, you could do TR and the dose wouldn’t change as the reduction point is a drop below 50.
