Pepper's numbers have been generally high lately, but when I got today's AMPS of 571 I was alarmed and leaped for the computer to post with a question. However, on my way to the computer, I think I found the reason for today's high number. There was a pile of half-eaten kibble on the floor that Freddy, my civvie, must have thrown up overnight. It looked like most of it had been eaten during the night and I'm thinking Pepper probably ate it. Gross, Pepper! That is one serious kibble craving! So now, I may eliminate kibble from Freddy's diet, too, to avoid this situation in the future. How long does it take for kibble to work its way out of a cat's system?
But back to Pepper's high numbers. He was doing pretty well on 10.5u. Then I started a new vial and his numbers steadily got worse until I finally ditched the vial and got another because I was concerned it was bad. In the meantime, I increased several times because of the high numbers. So now he's on 13u and his numbers are still higher than when he was on 10.5u. What's going on? Is there any chance I increased too much while we were using the possibly bad vial? I have a feeling you're all going to say no, he just needs way more insulin, but it all started when I started that new vial, so I just thought I'd ask, even if it seems like a stupid question.
