Good Morning!

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=113319

Quiet night last night, surfing the pinks. I am happy to see the bounces flatten out but I of course like to see him slide into the yellow and surf there for a bit. When he was diagnosed last April, his BG was in the 300's too. I'm ready to boot him off that floor though, aren't you?

His 5 P's are in order. Right now I can hear him purring from the other room. Alex is giving him a belly rub.

A sunny Saturday to Ole, and a happy healthy Saturday to you all and to your sugar kitties!

just read the rest of your condo from yesterday - that's good to know about the old vial being cloudy. would you make a note of that detail on his ss where you mention that you started a new vial last night? if we see a lot of reaction to this vial, that may explain why his duration hasn't been as good as hoped for.

I think if i didn't see some action with just the Lantus (ie, getting into some better numbers, like blues, without R usage) by morning, i'd consider increasing the Lantus dose at amps tomorrow. That'd be 3 shots on the new vial. alternatively, you could wait til tomorrow evening to give it 4 shots on the new vial.

:-D now that i've said that, maybe he'll read your condo and get busy! no kitty likes the threat of a dose increase!

how did the vet tell you to care for the lantus? were you shaking or rolling?

I hope the new juice works it's magic for you :-D Slide down some now, Ole, and show your bean some lower floors! Hope you have a good Caturday, Rebekah!

Come on Ole, work the new juice - the pink floor really isn't that interesting, in spite of what Neko tells you.

Hi!

Alex and I were running all around in separate circles today, he in his and me in mine. I thought he would test 2x this afternoon, but alas just one, sorry.

I'm with you Julie on the dose crease tomorrow morning, but hopefully we'll get more movement this evening. Chilling tomorrow to watch the Olympics, so able to monitor more closely.

I'm not exactly sure if my vet told me to roll the Lantus, but she didn't tell me not to roll it. Ole started on Humilin, and I was given rolling lessons at the vet office. When he switched, I assumed that insulin was insulin and it was all treated the same, and I wasn't told differently. Ole is the only diabetic that I have known intimately enough to think/ discuss insulin, so how would I know! I did tell Dr Romans that Lantus is fragile and shouldn't be rolled. She then did her own research and agreed with me. I was also pulling more insulin than I needed and shooting the excess back into the vial.I had the vial about 2-3 weeks before I joined FDMB and watched your video. Alex and I had considered that the vial had been compromised, but it looked clear when there was nothing to compare it to. The cloudiness was slight, and it is really ridiculously expensive ($215 @ Sams Club, the past vial bought in November was $180). I wouldn't have hesitated to but a new vial if I could see cloudiness or floaties. It wasn't until I compared it to the new vial could I see it.

Anyway, Here's to the new juice!

Rebekah.

We did the same thing. Cobb started on Prozinc, which is supposed to be rolled. We figured the same thing with Lantus so we rolled our whole first vial.

Good luck with tomorrow's dosecrease!!

i started with Prozinc too, which is rolled. fortunately someone told me not to roll it when i switched to Lantus. Probably the pharmacist.

what no one did tell me was that the syringes were different. Prozinc uses u-40 syringes and Lantus uses u-100 syringes. as you said, how would a person know if they didn't have any other experience with insulin? the folks here caught that error.

fingers crossed that he's moving into better numbers with the new insulin!
