Since we only did 1 u last night, for fear of losing libre, I am really surprised he actually had a nadir of 125. We’ll see where it goes today with full dose. With reduced doses lately, depot shouldn’t apply.

Thanks Staci. Yes I was surprised by his numbers.

He is hating me right now. I put the shirt on him and he was pitiful! He’d take a step and two backwards. His face looked so sad. He’s been hiding in the closet for the last hour or two under the low hanging clothes in the corner. Of course it’s right on the edge of Bluetooth coverage!

I hope he adjusts to it quickly! Because the tegaderm didn’t work. It rolled at the edges and he licked it off.

hi Deb, I’m sorry he’s miserable. I hope he gets to not mind it. It’s totally foreign to him. I’ve never had an issue with the Tegaderm because I always kept it covered with a T-shirt and it always stayed in place the entire time the Libre was installed. I’m constantly moving the phone around the house so that it’s within Bluetooth distance of Ivy whenever she decides to move to another part of the house. That’s the reason I keep her in one room overnight, so that she is within range of the phone so that it’s constantly reading her. I understand what you’re going through.
Just try to remind yourself that you’re doing this for the big picture of taking care of him. It’s for his own good for the long-term goal.

Question: was the tegaderm attached to shaved skin or fur? (It should be skin, not fur).

I don’t have a picture but it’s behind his front shoulder.

He is still refusing to do anything with the shirt on and doesn’t even want to eat, just laying and sleeping.
It’s breaking my heart. Not sure what we are going to do but I am just about at the end of my rope. It’s so hard watching with all this stuff he doesn’t understand but is miserable. Having lived outside for his first four years I think makes it harder for him. He was such a happy kitty before we got into all this, makes me have second thoughts on is it worth it to make his life longer if it’s unhappy……

I’m so sorry. He’s such a sensitive boy. I’m sure he’s very confused.
You could try covering the sensor with a wrap of some kind. Did you see the different pictures I sent in your post (yesterday I think).
I put a tube top on Ivy so her shoulders and chest are not enclosed.
You could try to think of something that might not make him feel as restricted if it’s stressing him. Poor baby.

(((((((@Deb and Tiger )))))))) Take a deep breath, exhale slowly. Do it again. You are doing the best for him, keeping the Thunder Shirt on him is keeping that Libre monitor on. Cats are very sensitive to changes, that is true, but they are also smart enough to understand if what you are doing is out of love for them. Would he take in some food if you held him in our lap and hand fed him? I can understand, you feel bad like you are hurting him, but all you are doing is trying to keep him safe. The monitoring is what keeps him safe when you give insulin and he shows signs of responding very well to the insulin, look at last night, he got into the blues, so that monitoring is crucial. You can do this, you are doing the best thing to keep him safe. I know he might balk, but is poking his ear to get blood, or even poking his paw an option? In the meantime, keep breathing, this too will pass and know you are in all of our thoughts, we feel your pain, I truly do.

Maybe his sensor is too far forward because I tried a wrap like that and when he walked it rolled back off of it.
I did check the pictures and we tried the t shirt and the harness. They put the sensor where they thought he couldn’t reach it.
Anyway took the shirt off to give him a break now and he’s bathing madly! Will try it at bedtime but a little worried he could get into trouble with it while I.am sleeping.

Oh Ruth thank you! Just so frustrated, in the last week or so we’ve taken 2 reductions because he dropped below 90, and gone through 3 libres and one regluing etc……it’s taking its toll as to our capabilities to not fail him, not to mention sleep. I feel like we’re going backwards with his treatment numbers too. Just a lot….
Sadly his ears just don’t bleed well and haven’t given enough thought to the paw….
