Good morning friends.
My apologies for not being as active recently as I would like.

Yesterday I called Tufts bc had not heard from them about Azalea's appt with dental specialist. :banghead: is a double :banghead::banghead:: Their small animal dental specialist is leaving and not booking any new appointments and there's no replacement in the loop:banghead::banghead:. They referred me to a vet dental clinic near them (that is closed for renovations) and Angell Memorial.

Found a dental specialist (accredited diplomate ) about an hour away, they fit us in for an early morning consult this morning.

Long story short, he thinks probably severe gingivitis, will do dental x-rays first (has to be sedated) and then he comes up with plan. Is very mindful that given azalea's age, renal history, recent eye surgery and size (she's now 5.1#), he is very mindful that the less time under sedation and the less oral trauma the better. We'll see what he suggests if any teeth are bad. But he's very aware that pulling would be very traumatic for her unless a tooth "is ready." We discussed pulse antibiotic treatment and a mouth coating treatment too to help with the gingivitis.

Crossing paws and vines and prayers for Azalea to come through this yet another challenge.

Had good feeling about this vet and his staff. Small animal and equine dentistry his speciality. Azalea very calm there so praying that's a good sign. Hoping this a good sign, first two efforts for a specialist referral were a bust. Maybe third time's the charm. Hope so.

Love and hugs and vines for all in need today:bighug::bighug::bighug:.

prayers for little Azalea... she is being a brave little girl right now... mama bean is going to help with those mouth issues little one... praying a solution is found soon and she starts to feel better and eat more Sina :bighug::bighug:

Thanks Carla and Amber.

When DVS called after the dental x-rays ca 1:15pm et, found reabsorption going on with some teeth, two teeth seem to have fully resorbed, others good except for plaque. He thinks the reabsorption condition in conjunction with the gingivitis likely reasons for the chronic recurring infection and ooze. Also mentioned that possibility of an endocrine issue that may be under the radar of lab work done to date. Was going to clean teeth and try to pull the two teeth that were the worst reasorption-wise, provided Azalea doing ok with anesthesia. He said her bp was fluctuating so he wasn't going to pursue any pulling if it posed any risk.

I called about an hour after because it'd be almost two hours since starting with X-rays under sedation. They were just finishing.

DVS just called. Azalea doing well. He felt was better to remove as many of the resorb affected teeth as possible. Oy. She now has her four canines and two? four? back teeth. While I was cleaning her room (washing floors etc), I swept under the dresser and found what looked like two teeth.

He said she's resting comfortably they are monitoring, and to come by between 4-6pm ET to bring her home.

Still crossing paws, praying that our sweet Azalea will be ok and thank you for your prayers. They're helping❤️❤️❤️❤️.

Sending more prayers. I'm glad she came through the procedure. She'll feel much better with those teeth gone. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you all. ❤️❤️❤️ For sure Azalea will be happy to be home..we all will. Dancer and Bella quite out of their rhythms with Azalea not home, too.

@Carol & Murphy: if I'm remembering correctly, is today Murphy's dental, Carol? Denty vines and hope all going well❤️❤️❤️❤️

thank you, Bobbie. I'm realizing that I'm exhausted (including little sleep last night worrying about Azalea and this morning's consult....the surgery today, while not a total surprise, unanticipated to be so soon). Azalea must be a gazillion times more exhausted than me but I hope she feels better and has good recovery.
AC has been on board with Azalea and is adding extra healing for tonight too. Post surgical Remedies are ready too❤️❤️

{{{Sina}}}

I'm so glad you were able to get Azalea seen so quickly and that the dentist was able to take action right away. I'm sure this will help her so much once she is recovered from the procedure. I do think it was meant to be that the first two options didn't pan out.

Sending truckloads of healing vines for my favorite little one-eyed cat, and :bighug:s for you.

Oh Sina - I hadn't looked at the board all day and just saw Azalea also at the dentist - wowee - that's some report you got
Really hope she recovers quickly and will eat well for you when she returns home

We got home near 6:45/7pm et. Azalea hasn't budged from her carrier. Been doing the post op homeopathics and keeping close. Steve with her now and while I finish suppers for the others. I fell in the kitchen, clumsy me, so am lying down for awhile.

Photos of Azalea still hunkered in her carrier.

Prayers and vines for all in need
Carol, I hope Murphy's dental went well. A very long dentist-y day in LL :bighug::bighug::bighug: for a brighter tomorrow.

(((Sina))), I'm just reading this after having been out all day. We are sending our best and strongest healing vines for Azalea. I'm sure she'll feel better tomorrow, because I know that you are doing all that you can to make her as comfortable as possible. I'm glad you were able to get her to a good dental specialist. Rusty had many extractions before he came to live with us: broken teeth, bad teeth, etc (all probably owing to his time on the streets). Now he has 5 teeth left: the two lower canines and 3 others. He eats just fine (patè foods and, of course, freeze-dried chicken treats), but has trouble with shredded foods.

Hugs and scritches. Take care of yourself: no more falls, please!

I'm glad Azalea is safely home where she will get the best of care and lots of love. Please give her a scritch from me.

Oh no! on your fall! I hope you aren't badly hurt! Sending vines for both of you!

oh rest comfortably Azalea.. i hope your mouth feels better real soon little one... and you feel better too Sina... careful in the kitchen lots of sharp stuff when you fall ! :bighug::bighug:
