Thank you! We do have one area on Oliver’s neck we found is easy if we “roll” the fur. Today, I decided to change sites and just tented it and that didn’t give me the clear view I am used to. He has surprisingly little scruff compared to another cat we gave fluids to! Lesson learned. I appreciate the thread.

Welp, Ollie tested “HI” so I must’ve missed. I feel bad. How harmful is it to have him “in the black all day”? I’m going back to his “sure thing” site. I just remember, when I had a lab, it started to hurt her when I stayed in the same area too long.

Ollie's meter is very friendly today:bighug:.
Try not to beat yourself up, Shelly. We've all done a fur shot at one point or another. I have the same problem with Butters, who is also a long haired kitty (shaved in her photo:p). I had to practice Marje's technique on Butters a lot before I got the hang of consistently being able to get a good view of her skin through all that fur.
I hope Ollie comes down out of the blacks for you tonight.

Are you feeding any dry at all or is he on all LC wet? I’m asking because I’d like to be a bit more aggressive with the fast tracking.

There are prescription crunchies down that I got from the vet, but honestly I rarely see him eat them, he loves his wet food. The dry food is down because his sister is the exact opposite. She loves crunchies and lets Oliver have her wet food. I feel like he needs more insulin also. He’s just too high all the time (I feel);it worries me. What do you suggest?

It's great he loves his wet.
I would ditch his crunchies completely. Even if he is only getting a few it can have a big impact on their BG. They will be HC, possibly very HC
You will need to be careful he doesn't get into his sisters crunchies, they will be High in carb too.

We have a multiple cat household and when George gets into the other cats crunchies it really makes a big difference to his BG. It doesn't happen often here, the other cats only get crunchies when we are going on vacation (the cattery won't feed them wet), so it's often in that phase when I transition one to another that he can get into the contraband.

It's nice to see something other than black.

Ok! He honestly won’t care. His sister is eating the prescription crunchy food that we were allowing him, but we can figure a way to feed her dry somewhere sneaky. And just leave wet in the community eating spot. Thank you!
