Lolly still holding her own at AMBG/93, PMBG/102. Going a little higher, still OK?

Lolly's a lot better, but she hasn't really returned to her "old self":(. She bats at the other cats, and she's not quite as affectionate as before. She always came when I called her, she doesn't do that at all, doesn't even look up. Still jumps on the bed to sleep with me though, and enjoys preening while I brush her. And she plays now, which is a big improvement. And she loves her new food!

When grooming herself, if you put your hand anywhere near her, she would always lick you for as long as you'd let her-- hence her name, "Lolly" for "Lollipop" :) She done this since she was a kitten. She stopped about 2-3 months before I noticed that something was really off, and took her to the vet when she's dxd diabetic. She still won't perform her signature move...

So she's doing a lot better than when she was dxd, but both my DH and I think there's still something "off".

Have you ever heard of diabetes changing a cats behavior, even after regulation or remission? Could be something else. I plan on taking her into the vet as soon as her OTJ over, but I'm not sure they'll find anything. Could be my lady's just getting older.

I feel bad complaining when she's going OTJ. I just expected her behavior to more back to normal by now.

Lots of things got changed up when she became diabetic. You may need to encourage her - maybe put a bit of a treat on your when you offer it.

Numbers are still fine up to about 120 is 'normal' she's had quite the upset to her life too - give her time :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

She was a little higher this am -- 117. We'll see what the PMBG looks like. Considering the 20% inaccuracy, could by over 120, should I be at all nervous?

Don't freak out just yet

Our cats are living, breathing beings that also just happen to love to make us worry....Seeing a squirrel outside, having a dog bark at them, having company in the house, running the vacuum cleaner and just "because they're a cat" can all cause wonky numbers now and then

Monitor the batch numbers on the food cans. Manufacturers can and do adjust the formulas to optimize their profits. These changes may result in different glucose responses and sometimes in GI upsets.

Make sure you are feeding mini-meals to spread out the load on the pancreas. If she's a scarfer, spread the food thinly on the plate to slow her down. You can add some water to it also, to increase the volume and slow here down.

Just to the PMBG, it was 56, Hallelujah! Thanks Chris and BJ, for reassuring me. What good points. Though now I am even more incensed at the cat food manufacturers.

She isn't so much a scarfer as a piggy. We've been putting down four small meals a day. Usually they leave some in their dish, and pick at it until the next meal. But Ms. Lolly often cleans up for the others. Some of our cats hang back, like to eat when the initial frenzy is over, so I don't like picking up the leftovers between meals. Lolly's clean up habits probably aren't contributing to spikes, but I'd like to get her weight down. I was hoping just eating low carb would help, but no weight loss yet. She's been on LC a month now.

So happy about her PMBG!:):):)
