Sorry for the late reply - had a Superbowl zoom party. :p Typically you don't need a vet's prescription for R or Regular insulin. It's either Humulin R or Novolin R, same thing human diabetics take around meal times. But it's still worth discussing it with the vet. If the vet needs convincing, this paper talks about using R with acromegalic cats, though we've also used it with cats with IAA, and with cats with ketones.
 
Oh wow. I thought that all insulin required an Rx. I'll look into it. I tried to change my user name, per your suggestion, but I received a message saying that I'd recently "changed my nick and could not change it again for 62 days." I don't believe I have ever changed my user name. When I first signed up to the board when Darcy was first diagnosed in June 2020, I just put my real name in there for a user name, never suspecting any problems. So, I'm not sure why it won't allow me to change my user name. Thanks for all of your input, by the way. It is much appreciated!!
