I hope everyone had a great week. ;) The days with the boys have been good ones! We have been very busy, that part of life has not changed. Will it ever? ;) NOPE!! :):):)   I am so glad it hasn't! I just can't imagine not being on the go. :) It keeps us out of trouble! I often think back on the weeks happenings, and wonder how in the world did we do all that! :woot: It was the same this past week. We just seem to pick up and go each day, no questions asked, not by me or the boys, or the people I interact with on a daily basis. I am grateful for all those that help us on a dailt basis, including my local barista! It cracks me up when I walk n tat door and my order is already in the works. Life is very good!

Swimming continues to be an integral part of my life, and the boys. I am grateful for this time, as it has become such a bonding experience for all of us. I can ask either of them at any given moment if they want to go and swim and they always come back with a yes. :joyful: Nicholas is still saying no to lessons, but I am trying a different approach to getting him involved with swim clases. When we go they are wrapping up lesson time at the pool so we sit and watch some of what they do, and talk about whet he sees. This seems to have cut the ice some. I don;t think he is afraid of class, I just think he rally likes things the way they are, and why change it. Kids can be such creatures of habit: shake up the routine and they can be unhappy campers. So... we will keep plugging away at swim class, and hope fully get him enrolled by summer. Things will change alot then with pool availability within each Rec Center, as they get so busy with summer swim leagues and tons of swim classes, that the bigger pools become inaccessible unless you have a class. I know he will not be happy if he cannot swim in the big pool. It happens every summer.... I will hope we can get his resolved by then. If not, we may have to really adjust when we go, so that he can do what is called Rec Swims, when the pool is opened to everyone. Well, lots to think about. William continues to love going. He too is so excited when he realizes he is headed off to the pool. He does all kinds of tings there, doesn't mind being under water, loves the slides and the water cannon and geysers. So we continue to go, alternating pools between the Lynnwood Aquatic Center, and the Snohomish Aquatic Center. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful Aquatic facilities here too. I know it wrote this last week, but it is so true, in that it is so nice to see the evolution of pools that cater to families, with beach play areas, and large water slides, as well as the competitive side of swimming. Nicholas continues to amaze me at every turn. He loves to lap swim, underwater, and does his version of that when the opportunity is there. He likes to swim the lazy river unassisted too, and made a couple of laps on that on his own. His all time fave thing? The big Blue Slide at the Snohomish Pool, and right after that: the Lazy River. He has discovered what fun that can be when navigating it all in an inner tube. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Night were our swim days this week.

William and Nicholas: pools RULE!

The boys and I continue to be very busy. Our weather has dictated alot of what we do, and even with that we still have great times. We have come up with a great list of indoor places, and this week we used them when we needed too, when the weather was questionable, which was every day I had them. Darn rains!
Wednesday Afternoon we did get a very short break in all that wet, and made it to a local playground at Meadowdale Park. I was grateful for that. They got to be boys for a whole hour, walking the local rails and using all the playground equipment there, including a fun zip line geared for kids. We visited the Imagine Childrens Museum on Thursday, and the Seattle Aquarium on Friday. Weather still was an issue for both days, so indoors for us. The Childrens Museum is one of their fave places to go. They do an excellent job of ahving interactive play areas that the boys really like. It is a given that the aquarium is a go to place for sure. We could go every week and they would never tire of it. Sometimes we do! Friday the focus for them was on anemones, for both boys. Nicholas spent alot of time there just talking with anyone that would give him an ear. ;) That was fun to watch. It is kinda cool to see how much he really knows about the critters he is observing.

Nicholas & William: Hiking Buddies!

As busy as these boys are, and me included, we still try and find time for family, and just being at home, enjoying each others company. We were able to visit with their Grammie Connie after Nicholas's swim on Wednesday. I am so glad she is back in the lineup for care for the boys. The Friday Night Burger Feast for Nicholas, after his swim session at the Snohomish pool, will be always on the highlight list. He looks forward to this every week, starts asking about it on Wednesday when he first sees me. I took alot of random photos this week. Some of William and puddle time, some of William after a hard days swim session, some of Nicholas's and his new love of Jelly, sans PB, sandwiches. I enjoy these, as they are indicative of how happy these boys are. They just appreciate all that lies before them, love to explore, love too to just hang out with family. One of my highlights is my bi-weekly breakfast with my son Anthony. We go to the same restaurant each time, order pretty much the same food. The time spent cannot be beat. Such a relaxing and fun way to stay in touch.

Like last week, Nicholas had this past week wanted to take pictures. I have never refused him, instead give him my camera and let him go for it. Nick's Pics RULE! He was into the aquarium critters this week, and his Grammie Connie's home. I love seeing things from a child's perspective. I think he did a great job. Just like last week it was fun to listen to him in the back seat of my car, as we traveled, and he picked out things to take photos of. I kept hearing "Got it! Great Shot! I really like this one!" and my personal fave: "slow down Grammie! I need to take a picture!" so of course I did. I heard that several times this week. ;) I find these road trips with the boys to be fun, whether or not Nicholas is taking pictures. The entertainment from that back seat is something else, never ever a dull moment!

For my own personal time, I have been hiking the local trails here when I can. I hope in the near future to have a day to visit the mountains and get in at east one snow hike before winter's end. Paws crossed. LOL, wrote that last week, the week before and still haven't been able to make it. I had hoped to go Tuesday, but had things at home I had to take care of... the weatehr was AWFUL... maybe this week! I've been to Meadowdale shore and woods on Tuesday, Picnic Point Beach on Sunday, and a local pool trail, Mesika Trail, on Monday. It is such a nice alternative to mountain hiking, and will do, along with some other local lowland hikes, until the higher elevation stuff opens in the spring.

a wet, cool, and full of solitude morning at Meadowdale Beach

Normalcy in MusketeerVille :cat::cat::cat::cat: Hoe cool to be able to day that. :joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful: Elsa is dong well. She is eating better since I have been trying to get more food in here get some weight back on her, it is a slow process, but seems to be working, I think too that she really likes the individual attention. She is bored with this wet weather. Today she sat at the slider door, tested the outside a few times, reluctantly came back in and then sat and complained. I can't say that I blame her. :arghh: It is NASTY out there today.:rolleyes: Bug is doing great! He is such a love bug, and so reminds me of Mannie. They do/did so many things the same. I have a fleece blanket that I use in the evening when I am unwinding on my sofa, watching TV, reading, etc. He just loves that thing, and as soon as I have it out, he is on top of it, making biscuit after biscuit. And the purrs! I love that time. Lola is, well... Lola. She is still my early morning lap warmer as I work on the computer. She never misses, curls up, purrs the morning away. I love that time when she is "normal":joyful::joyful::p:cat::cat::cat::woot: and the rest of the day? still chasing her tail :woot:, still walking my high off the ground railing, :nailbiting:, still riding my frig door , still ripping up and left out paper , still pounding any glass type surfaces o_O, still eating and ripping up my plants  . Lola is... well, Lola. She really is, in all seriousness, a joy to care for. She makes life fun. Elsa grounds it in reality. Bug adds that element of comfort and reassurance. :joyful: For this week: a for sure on that normalcy in MusketeerVille. :cat::cat::cat:
And for fun: an old video of Nicholas and Mannie. just cuz I have it. And one of Lola, from Christmas last year. It so sums up what makes Lola Lola. :):):)

Nicholas, Mannie and the Nanners

Have a great Caturday everyone! Today has been catchup day here. Shopping and laundry done, some medicare issues to resolve for DH, and just being a little lazy. I hope to get out for a walk after I post this, for some fresh, though wet, air, and to exercise the legs some. It has been a day of intense rain since the start of the day. I wonder if it will even break today...

KITTIES!! Remember: BLUE, think GREEN :cat:

I love the videos. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad things are going well with the kitties and the boys. Hopefully Nicholas will decide swim lessons are a good idea.

@carfurby Hi Carla :):coffee: Happy Saturday Night! THX on the vids. it's fun to go back and find them remember when... Good times! THX on the rest, it is nice that I can say all is well. YAY! and Phew! I hope so too on Nichoals and swim class. He will fly right trough them if he would only take them. We hope so soon, it will make him a better swimmer. Maybe?

Hi Michelle,
Your Pacific storms are making news here in the northeast. Looks like you're in for more rain, too. I hope you'll be able to get out on a trail this week. We are expecting about 20 inches of snow in the next few days. We have tons already, and it stays very cold, so not much melt.
Love those kitty videos. Mannie was such a partient kitty with NIcholas. And Lola is simply amazng. And Bug's picture shows
how mellow he is. I'm glad that Elsa is eating more and gaining some weight back. Today was a day when Rusty didn't feel like eating much. Otherwise he behaved totally normally. Go figure!

Interesting strategy to get Nicholas interested in swim lessons. When the summer schedules at the pools start he may be ready. Otherwise he would have to stay in the kiddie pool and he surely won't want that!

Winter Carnival brought lots of tourists to town today. I will wait to take pictures after the weekend and will post one of the ice palace (not as impressive as last year's) and of the ice sculpture of a VW bus.

Have a good weekend,

Ella & Rusty

Great vids and Bug is gorgeous but I'm really not sure about calling Meadowdale a beach - where's the sand!

Serryn

Hi Michelle @Michelle and Mannie (GA) I desparately needed a double shot of Elsa's Special 10 hour Energy Mocha this mornig- Tiger kept me up late last night! Great picture of Bug- that look on his face is priceless- sort of a mix of, "Hey, I'm trying to sleep here" and "maybe if I fake sleep, she will get that camera out of my face" :D:D Great pictures and videos as always- Oh how Nicholas has grown up! So many wonderful memories captured in those pics- thanks for sharing them- Happy Caturday! :joyful::joyful:

Good Morning LL! :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee: (YUM! I Love coffee!), and Happy Sunday!

LL! It's is I, Elsa, KBP!, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! Coffee is on, Lola and Bug , founders of Paw Prints Pizza, are ready to go! Want pizza? it is MEGA GOOD! so... well... Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and triple shot espressos, with beans from Starbucks Pike Place Market, their original blend, AND.... for all my Mocha fans: a venti quad peppermint white chocolate mocha, with peppermint infused whip, garnished with peppermint candy chips and white chocolate shavings. SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of mint and vanilla and cimmamum swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, topped with peppermint chips and chocolate drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good! They are busy getting ready for.... uh.... I dunno! but there sure is a flurry of activity in the kitchen. [/I]

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. We are SO WET here, but having said that we are also 55/60 in the afternoon. Crazy weather for February, but I won't complain, We even had a weather break yesterday afternoon. The rains stopped, and I could see BLUE SKY out over the sound So.... grabbed my coat, and my hat and headed on out for a woods to the shore walk. That was so nice! The trails were a bit muddy, but that's OK. To be expected here when it rains. ;) Meadowdale Beach was great. No one was there but me. :):):) It is sometimes just way cool to have the place to myself. We were in between weather systems, which made the time spent there knda cool. The sky was full of sky drama, water was active, birds were flying (including some eagles !!), and even a few of the salmon and trout that live in our waters were jumping. What a great afternoon.

I was greeted by the welcoming committee when I got home yesterday. That so reminded me of Mannie days. I would come home after hikes, sometimes late in the day, and there he'd be, along with Elsa and BJ, waiting at the top of the stairs. Bj was always bellowing as she thought she was starving. Elsa was alwyas glaring with that where have you been look, and Mannie was always pacing and thumping his foot. They always thought I was late.:smuggrin::joyful::eek::cat: That was the birth of the blood oath, which I dutifully signed saying I would never ever be late, again. That was after a 6PM arrival home one day, when I should have been there at 4. I so remember that hike, Mannie's shot time was 2 hours late, but per the norm for him, he still had a good day. Yesterday really reminded me of those days, coming home and being met at the top of the stairs. Yesterday Elsa was still glaring with that look, Bug was pacing (I swear sometime he is Mannie reincarnated), and Lola was rolling up and down the stairs. :woot::woot: Looks like I'll have to update that Blood Oath.
blood oath 2.jpg

Enjoy your Sunday L&LL! I am off for a morning hike through the woods. We have another break in the rains this morning, so off to the woods again. With all this wet the mosses and ferns and fungi are really looking good. Time to go and take that all in, and hope maybe for a nice sunrise this AM. It is cloudy, but I can see some sky too, so maybe I'll get lucky once it is time for that sunrise. :joyful::cool:

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee: oh wow! we are making your news? It really is WET here, we've had alot of rains. That always means floods and rivers running their banks, to be followed the the inevitable mud and land slides. The train tracks that run by the shore have had two slides in the past two days. not good, as that shuts down service for two days until they can make sure the hillsides are once again "stable". WOW on it all. I too hope to get out on a trial this week, when I have a free day. You guys are making our news here, what with all the snow fall there, with more to come. It has to be gorgeous though. I hope all are dealing with it well too. THX too on the vids, and the furkids. It has been fun to go back and look at Mannie and Nicholas vids. What a pair they were. I hope so on Nicholas and those lessons! We really want to get him started this summer! So true on all you say there. Paws crossed! Cool on the carnival there - I look forward to the pics!

@Anne & Zener (GA) Hi Anne and Liz :coffee::coffee::coffee: Me too... Miss the King! it has been a joy to ho back and see all that nanner activity. Sheshhh he loved those nanners. Nicholas knew it too, and would always make sure he had them with him. :joyful:  Hard to believe that toddler is now 4!

@purrdydolly Hi Serryn :coffee::coffee::coffee: LOL!, and welcome to Washington beaches. Sand??? what sand???? We have rocky beaches, for the most part. Through I have found a few were we can wiggle our toes in a few grains. :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot: Sandy beaches are hard to come by here, unless one goes all the way to the actual Coastal waters. THX too on the vids, I so agree on Bug. That he is!

@Tiger and Ruth :coffee::coffee::coffee: and alot of extra from out local barista Elsa ----> :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee: I LOBVE your comments on Bug: I know for sure that is exactly what he was thinking. I often get that look when I try and take pics of him. GO AWAY HUMAN! :woot::woot::woot: THX so much on the pics. I'm glad people seem to enjoy them. I love pics, duh (!!), just a nice way to share what is here.

Hi Michelle,
Glad you got out to Meadowdale. What dramatic pics of the water and the sky! Hope you're out there right now, enjoying another respite from the rains.
Neat on the "welcoming" committee!
Thanks for the :coffee::coffee:, Elsa. Much needed to wake up this snowy morning.
It's really coming down hard at the rate of an inch an hour.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

WOOT What an excellent time out on the trails this morning. I decided to revisit Meadowdale once again. It looked like we could possibly get some color in this morning's sky. There were minimal clouds, no rains, and the possibility was there. YaHOO! I was not disappointed. There wasn't alot of color, but I as grateful for what did make an appearance. The beach was empty once again. just me and about 5 ducks. I took the time on the way home to explore the trails some, found some really cool mosses, and fungi. I just love that stuff. It can come and go so quickly. I revisited the field of snow bells I found last week They grow in one particular part of the park. It was great to see that they were still there today. Here's hoping the the partial sun that creeps in now and then this morning will stay with us throughout the day. Might make for a visit to Picnic Point for a sunset well... maybe on that. ;) I might be pushing my luck....:joyful:

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Hi Ella! :coffee::coffee::coffee: THX on the pics! that was an unplanned bonus yesterday. I went dressed for mud and rain, and was rewarded with a break in the weather at the shore, and that incredible sky. Just love it when that happens. It has turned out to eb a good day here: no rains, in the 50's, and the sun comes through now and then. No complaints!
And yes: I LOVE my welcoming committee. It is nice to see that this group of three will do the same as the original. Warmed my heart to see them waiting when I got home yesterday.
 on your snowfall! an inch an hour??? You have to take photos! :) I bet it is gorgeous. I kinda miss the stuff. well almost on that....
Auntie Ella! It is so COLD and SNOWY there that I am making a return trip. You needs me! I gots new snowshoes so no worries. I shall be fine. :cat: I loves my new thermal sweater too! anyways.... Tell Rusty to save me a space on the radiator. I gots some hot tuna toddies for us!~~ Elsa, kitteh barista
