You have to worry about bypassing a good dose when you (a) increase by large increments and/or (b) don't test enough to see how low each dose is taking them. In your case, neither is true. He is just bouncing from the lower blues that he isn't used to. Also, it isn't unusual for a dose to "go stale". What might be a good dose one week might be too little the next. So we say not to get attached to a dose and just follow the numbers.

He needed that increase from 3U to 3.25U. Your goal is to get him to spend more time in lower numbers. In fact, he is good for another increase to 3.5U tonight. It's been a week on 3.25U and he's barely seeing any nadirs below 200.

Ok thank you so much for explaining this. It definitely helps. It's funny how it seems every time I mention him not getting into blue or lower numbers he decides to do it. lol

I will be going out of town Friday afternoon - Sunday afternoon. Should I wait to start the 3.5U when I get back Sunday night and have my sitter continue giving the 3.25 or what should I do?
 
I would start the 3.5 units now, gather data on how it's doing, and check in on Thursday to see if is an OK dose to leave him at. A couple reasons for that suggestion. One, I don't want him stuck in higher numbers and this might be an OK dose for a petsitter. And second reason, 3.5 units is much easier for the petsitter to draw than 3.25 cause it's on the line.

Ok thank you! I already gave his 3.25 tonight but will start the 3.5 tomorrow morning.
